Not a good year for me

Nine (9) new batteries and counting just this year.
As soon as the Speedster is ready to go it will be 10 - or more, who knows.
I just hope the Volt's battery doesn't follow in the golf cart, tractor, 911, and Tundra's footsteps.
The Tundra is especially hard on batteries, averaging only about 2 1/2 years before they quit.
This is getting spendy!!

Wd,
I've found that the gel type batteries last alot longer and no corrosion on posts, wally world sells 800 CCA with 4 year free replacement for under $200 I replaced the original in my Tundra and never looked back great batteries. They also are great in extreme cold and heat.

Think about all the batteries I have and will be buying with my recent acquisitions!

Thank you! Those are vintage Aloha brand racks too - the only make that would handle that "domed" VW style roof! :)

I was under the impression that cold weather was hard on batteries, but reading some of the reports from guys in warmer climes, I'm thinking heat is the real killer.

Best

Yup, Southwest FL car batteries are good for about 2 1/2 years.

And I had a 12 year old Optima in my Carrera that I replaced with a new Optima only to get less than 3 years out of the new one.

wdfifteen 04-29-2024 05:54 AM

^^ I had the same experience and stopped buying Optimas 10 years ago.

Batteries seem to have it in for me this year. I went to call NAPA this morning to see if they had a 7527F battery in stock and the battery on my effing phone was dead.

Being a regular NAPA customer has it's advantages. Robert the manager gives me the net price on everything I buy there. This morning I got another counter man who quoted me $232.16. Robert came over, tappa, tappa, tappa on the computer and the price dropped to $148.25.

Walmart and Batteries plus were both $204.

I've bought a couple different car batteries at the local Family Farm & Home Store.

It's been about 7 years, but I remember they were a good price and lasted as expected. I can't remember the brand they sell.

Edit: I think it was Tractor Supply...not FF@H
TSC carries Interstate Batteries here.

The only Optima I have is a 6v one in my tub.

8 years old and still working fine.

I keep a low amp tender on it........
