^^^ Thanks . The guy I bought it from has a small wrecker service in a small town . He buys dead vehicles and either fixes them or parts them out . This Jimmy had a 4.3 with blown head gaskets . The vehicle sat for a year with the parking brakes on . Then he bought it and dragged it home . When I got to his place he met me and we looked it over .

He pulled the ebrake cables so that helps with my conversion . He said the drivers side ebrake was stuck . I checked it ............ yep that side wouldn't move . No biggie and we tossed it into the back of my dually . My dually has a stack of leaf springs like a lumber wagon . Well the two hour ride home was enough bouncing around to free up the frozen ebrake !!! . Double checked it after I offloaded and both sides turn freely . No complaints here

Hell yeah! Nice fix. That's a great method.

Probably a good truck for the fairer sex to ride shotgun, too.

I rarely get the easy or cheap fix so was greatly surprised by the results on the axle . My wife rarely enjoys riding in the beast

Hey guys I am still modding the S10 . I ordered new rear calipers and ceramic brake pads . I have a mobile mechanic lined up for this coming Saturday to give me a hand swapping the axles and bleeding the brakes .

I called a glass guy I have used in the past to get a price on replacing the rear window with a slider . He deals with three glass warehouses and none had the slider and no estimate on any orders . Wow .

I checked on the web and ordered via fleabay out of California . Four days later it is here . Glass guy coming Monday or Tuesday to do the swap . I had him look at the ebay unit and he said looks good go ahead and get it . He's charging me 100 bucks for the R&R . I am slowly checking off all the boxes 😀

Wow, crazy. I used to work at a FLAPS and sliding rear windows were always in stock for the common trucks.

S10s have been out of production for over 20 years. Not that many needing back windows. When I built mine 6 years ago we removed the slider and installed a solid glass window. Gaskets on the slider did not look that great and I didnt really see the need for it. I dont have dogs anymore.

Swapped in a used rear axle assembly today . Out with the 4:10 gear and drum brakes with open diff and in with 3:42 gear with disc brakes and G80 locker . The axle came out of a 99 GMC Jimmy 2wd .

Did a full brake flush/bleed and the brakes are rock solid . Engine RPM's at 55 mph went from 2000 to a little over 1600 . Speedometer is now off by about 8-9 mph vs GPS . That will get corrected .

Locker works I put down 2 solid streaks on the road 50 foot long 😀 . Glass dude coming Monday morning to do the rear window swap . This little hot rod coming along nicely .

I made the 4.10 mistake when I built my truck. Did not take long before I had 3.23s in it. Still smokes the tires on demand.

Yeah I never would have gone 4:10 but that's what previous owner installed . I think for my use the 3:42 is a good compromise .

Pulled her out of the garage this morning and removed the tape that was holding the window in place until urethane dried . I am very happy with the look .

Low gears make it easier to break tires loose. High gears generally enable a car to spin the tires longer/farther, in my experience.

Looks good. The modern sliders look a bit different from the sliders from years ago (late 80s early 90s).
