Well, I've been thinking.....why not buy an NPT valve that is similar shape as this piece of crap and fit it to the tank - problem solved (I hope). I'm taking tomorrow off and I will visit our plumbing supply store.

I think you're overcomplicating your life. Take either of the bulkhead fittings to the plumbing shop and have them identify the thread, then buy the right Sharkbite and be done.

Also, measure the ID, it might take a standard copper pipe size that can be soldered in.

That's my plan A

I took my parts to 3 plumbing supply stores yesterday. I wasn't able to solve the problem but was able to identify that the threads are 1/2" G Thread BSP. After that, I found an adapter online and it will be delivered tomorrow. So, making progress :)

G is straight (parallel) thread, which makes sense, it looked straight.

1/2"BSP and 1/2"NPT are interchangeable, so that was your problem. Straight to tapered won't work.

It looks like what you bought will solve the issue.

Unilaterally I don't agree. There are times and places where I would not at all. Used properly with care and always new, I will use them where exposed.

But with all the new crimp technology that is the way to go.

The adapter came today and it fits perfectly. I will attached with tape + dope. After that, all of the input plumbing is going to be copper.

The fitting fitted! ;)

I sort of agree, but in situations where soldering cold cause a fire I have relented and use a sharkbite. They are also very fast to install. And easy.

I agree only where exposed
