Rose help, paging Baz...

Hey Baz, we have a rose bush that puts out tremendous flowers but it's got rust.

Any old fashioned methods of controlling it that don't involve 'chemicals' with names I can't even pronounce?

This bush was given to us when my father-in-law passed a number of years ago. I've been stuck by its huge thorns any number of times when I've been told to prune it back each year.
It keeps on coming back and rewarding my sore fingers with numerous photo opportunities with the flowers it provides.

I'd like to help it survive for a while longer.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I'm sure Baz has some tricks up his sleeve but you can always call Otto and Sons Nursery. They supply the majority of roses to central and southern California. It's worth a stop if you're ever in the area.

Remove the leaf litter. Pick the shriveled ones off

I use copper sulfate pretty liberally in my yard

Neem oil is a big part of my arsenal. I always try and get ahead of rust with a systemic. Our sun is not what May is usually, June, yes. It's hard on grape vines too so I suspect the grapes will not be great this year in spite of the rains.

BTW. I don't put system on the grape soil.

Back to roses. I'm getting tired of them. I may rip them out this Fall and go with low shrubs.

I just looked at this and it says it can't be delivered to our location. Must be a California thing or something like that.

California is like a whole other planet.

You can buy it at the local nursery.

Maybe not that brand, but the first one to show up is a go in CA. And the Lowe's site says they have that brand. I don't get it.
