Another cat question
A cat showed up at our door a few days ago. It's the ugliest cat I've ever seen (except for those hairless ones).
Anyhow, I've searched the interwebs for the answer to this question without luck, so as usual I'm turning to the wisdom of PPOT for an answer. This cat's fur is white except for the tips of each hair, which is gray. So about 80-90% of the hair is white and the remainder is gray. Strange looking for sure. Someone saw the cat and said, "Oh, that's a M?????" I cannot remember the word she said, only that it may have started with an "M." Does that sound familiar to anyone? |
"… I've had nothing, but bad luck
Since the day I saw the cat at my door So I came into you sweet lady Answering your mystical call … Crystal ball on the table Showing the future, the past Same cat with them evil eyes And I knew it was a spell she cast … She's just a devil woman With evil on her mind Beware the devil woman She's gonna get you" |
OK, my wife figured it out. I can't believe she beat you guys. I usually get an answer from a PPOT denizen in about 10 seconds.
So it is a "Black Smoke Turkish Angora." Looks something like this, only ugly. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1717594858.jpg |
Further complications:
So the cat adopted Vicki and wasn't letting go. Vicki calls her "Mosey" because she just moseyed up to the house and moved in. We made an appointment with our vet for the usual "found cat" tune up plus having her spayed. Took her in this morning, and asked to have her checked for a chip before doing anything else. She is chipped. So she does or has belonged to someone and somebody took good care of her at some point in her life. She has been on the road for a long time. The day she showed up she weighed 4.7 pounds. She was up to 5.1 this morning. The vet said that, based on the size of her head and her skeleton she should weigh between 10 and 14 pounds. She said she will be a beautiful kitty when her body fills in and her fur gets healthy. Based on her weight, she showed up at our door just in time. We are waiting to hear back from the vet regarding the attempt to find the owners. Vicki is beside herself. These two fell in love and she can't stand the idea of letting Mosey go. But it's a no-lose situation for the cat, and I feel great about that. She will either go back to a loving home or come to a new loving home. Win-win for her! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1717606404.jpg |

I don't think that is an ugly cat. Nice of you to help it out.

Cats are pretty low-maintenance pets, not a lot of downside in return for the benefits. Good move Vicki.

I think that Muttcat is very pleased with it's new home.

A Manx perhaps? Pic would help. [emoji23]

Our "just showed up" cat was fantastic for the family. We've got 3 indoor cats now (1 old lady and 2 year old kittens still that are siblings) and a 4th cat has been showing up on our porch of late. Think it is too late - the wife and daughter have been feeding it.... but wife tried introducing one kitten to it and neither side was having any of that....
So looks like we have 3 indoor cats and a front porch cat..... |

I think she looks so weird because she is so thin. Her coat doesn't flow over her body, it breaks at every bone, showing patches of white that at first glance look like patches of missing fur. I think as she fills out and her coat gets healthy she'll look a lot different. One thing for sure, she knows how to burrow into your heart. She is a sweet one, and we are hoping her previous owner is - well, a previous owner. We've been on pins and needles all day, still haven't heard from the vet. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1717626756.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1717626756.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1717626756.jpg |
Rooting for Team Vicki Mosey.

Sure does seem that the cat made her choice.

Just got a "just showed up" cat myself.
People are saying "See if she has a chip!" Well....I placed a "Found cat" ad with only one response and it wasn't a match. Then I looked at all the "Lost cat" ads I could find and none matched my "just showed up" kitty. So what started out as a foster.......turned into a failed foster. And she hit the jackpot too, because she's getting what all little furkids deserve......love, comfort, companionship, and safety. Cats living her best life right now. If I lost a cat, I'd have ads up.....and would answer every 'found cat' ad I saw. ======== More perspective. This cat actually showed up on the back deck at my Mom's house, that has been vacant for the past year. I go there a couple times a week and started to leave water and food out. Then found out the neighbor was doing it too. I asked the neighbor if he'd take her and he said he was getting a cat himself in a couple days and didn't want to risk his new one getting a disease from this one. This was over a month ago. So I ended up taking her to my place to foster. So I see the neighbor today and ask how his new cat's doing. He told me he returned the cat because it was too aggressive...scratching and biting. So now I'm thinking - karma stepped in for that cat to end up with me....instead of with him or whomever - because - she's living her best life now. |
