Neither IMO. She'd probably be banned from Jeopardy. I wonder how she could use that ability to make a living.

There's a man in La Crosse with hyperthymesia. He was on Jeopardy in 1990, came in 2nd.

What I found interesting in the video above was the sleep study resulting in possible dementia treatments. Could be a breakthrough?

There is a lot of discussion about "Eidetic", Photographic, Hyperthymesia and "Exceptional" memory and the rarity of individuals that have portions of those abilities.

My oldest sister has, charitably, an exceptional memory...may have been eidetic as a child.

That said, for her it is a curse because what she remembers isn't always accurate in terms of emotion, motivation, circumstance, etc...she remembers her role in the memory, not others and their own rational and viewpoints.

She has no empathy, which is cruel; unfortunately, for her.

I have spoken with her maybe five times in 40 years. We don't talk because she has held on to memories that involve me in detail, and I am always the awful, misguided protagonist.

I finally told her, decades ago, that when she was 20 and I was 16, I didn't even know she really existed...I knew she was there but, let's be frank, the last person in the world a 16-year-old boy cares about is an odd older sister in Med School at 20.

I added that whatever she remembers I did is probably correct but without context: She has the what, when, where and how down, but not the why...because I was 16 and I didn't know!

All I cared about was sports, getting a scholarship and wimmens.

Same here

That was what the girl in the article was saying. She would lose a few hours sleep stewing over something that happened many years ago.
