Mustang GTD

Cool car, limited run, 300K buy-in; made for rich guys with connections to get richer, like first-buyers of the last Ford GT.

Can pass anything but a cars and coffee?

pwd72s 06-17-2024 03:25 PM

Shhhh...Mustang considered bad here. Just ask a certain urpeen poster...he'll tell ya a 2007 Cayman is far superior to any Mustang. ;)

Anyway, yeah, I understand they're pretty damned fast...I'm guessing Jay Leno probably on the short list.

Alan A 06-17-2024 04:50 PM

The GT500s are seriously quick.

But - and here’s the rub - it’s still a Mustang.
They attract a certain demographic - one that considers a Corvette to be an aspirational automobile.

A930Rocket 06-17-2024 04:57 PM

Maybe it looks better in person and a different color, but for 300 K, there’s a lot of other cars I would buy before it.

Not that I have to worry about it.

HardDrive 06-17-2024 05:48 PM

Nothing wrong with that car fire can't fix. Can't imagine the audience for this car.

DWBOX2000 06-17-2024 05:59 PM

Ah, it’s a bit much. I’m sure it’s incredible but not sure I would drive other than to a car show. A bit over the top for real living. I think my wife would duck down, heck I might too. Not a Mustang thing, I feel the same way about Some of the new 911’s. Gt3rs for example. I’m actually a big mustang fan, just not this one.

911boost 06-17-2024 06:43 PM

It’s pretty fast, but I agree, similar to the new GT3RS’s I do not think it drive it on the street.

Cool though and yo had to submit a video on why Ford should pick you, so it wasn’t all about who has the most $.

podium , third in GT class this year at LM

pwd72s 06-17-2024 09:54 PM

Primarily a track machine...street versions are bragging rights toys. The Lemans finish was pretty impressive considering a first year effort.

sc_rufctr 06-17-2024 11:20 PM

IMO it looks like a Japanese tuner car. No thanks.

aschen 06-18-2024 06:12 AM

It is more subtle than a current GT3RS.

LWJ 06-18-2024 06:26 AM

I am sure it is amazing. The styling doesn't appeal to me from this picture. Peter called it, looks like a Japanese Tuner car.

$300k with a Mustang interior? Sure....great deal.

Profit is rather unaffected when Government regulation limits supply. Profit just gets spread across fewer units.

KNS 06-18-2024 01:31 PM

I have to agree with some of the other comments - it looks cartoon-ish. Is this car intended for adults? The GT3RS is a bit over the top as well.

pwd72s 06-18-2024 02:24 PM

All a moot discussion. I'm sure all are sold by now....more "applications" than cars to be made in order to fit the race rules.

:D Good on Ford for building a monster 800HP muscle/pony car. But these will never get driven except to a properly vetted cars & coffee  I'm sure we'll see most of these on the auction blocks over the next decade being flipped for crazy money.
