Does anyone fly one way anymore?

We are looking to go to Europe in the Fall but don't know how long we want to stay. It seems like if you want to book a one way ticket it is ridiculously expensive. Does anyone do this or have any advise? We would want to travel Business class there and Premium Economy back.
Thanks

Last flight I took not only left direct from my normally expensive podunk local/regional air port but was also the least expensive flight I have ever been on. Was like $125 to get to Denver from N Florida.

You can get a flex return.

What if you book a round trip and just don't show up for the return? Could this be less? I got to Italy last month for $500 RT.

going to Baku to work the F1 race. Had to buy a roundtrip to Paris, then 3 one way tickets to make the trip work. Paris/Baku, Baku/Istanbul, Istanbul/Toulouse. Hoping this all works

Lots of people flying one way out of Texas lately.

The gf flew one way to Chicago 2 weeks ago to meet her sister. Then one way to Denver with her sister and her family. Finally, one way from DEN to HNL last Wednesday. When she goes to Korea, she also flies one way because she doesn't know when she'll come back. She usually stays for about 3 months.

I'm attending a wedding in Ireland next month and then on to Norway for some genealogy hunting. This trip entails seven one way flights originating and terminating at SMF. I would starve as a travel agent were that still a thing.

That is against airline rules, and you might very well end up in a situation where they simply won't ever let you fly with them again.

Same with flying only half of a pair of legs, and just not getting on the second flight.

I know dropping out at a layover is frowned on. Can you claim appendicitis or something?

Say, I wasn't feeling well, so I tested myself. Covid.

You could book a round trip with a date that you think might work with a no charge changeable ticket. I just booked a trip to Texas and was unable to fly the day I booked. I was able to reschedule the flight the day before to the following week for no charge.

I am not 100% sure, but most Immigration authorities like to see a return ticket.

When we finally retire outside of Canada, it will be a one way flight..... :)

Cheers

They only ask about a return flight ticket if you need a visa to enter the country. And then you usually need to show the RT ticket when applying for the visa. For Americans in EU countries, you have nothing to worry about unless you're staying over 90 days. Even then you're not gonna get in trouble upon leaving. BTDT.

Thanks everyone.
I am just going to buy a changeable ticket. LAX Dublin, Amsterdam LAX.
If anyone has any suggestions for things to do in either city I would love to hear them
