CDK parts system cyber attack
Nationwide dealership cyber attack. Who cares? I do because the part I ordered 4 days ago from Sunset is still sitting lost in the dealerships parts warehouse. Took the following from a Reddit post:
Parts: Much the same as service, though parts is a little more dependent upon the computer programs than service is. The biggest problem we have is that all of our bin locations and on hand counts were in the system. We also no longer have any sort of automatic replenishment happening from the manufacturer, though that's something we can handle ourselves with manual orders, we just can't post anything in so we have to manually log everything going in and out with spreadsheets for when the system comes back up. Long story short, we have absolutely zero inventory control right now. Unless it's a part we sell all the time and have the location memorized, we have absolutely no idea whether or not it's in stock, or where it's located even if it is. We're completely blind. Another important detail worth noting is that parts is basically the complete opposite as sales in the respect that our inventory is the only thing that the dealership actually owns... and we have no idea what we've got anymore. Not sure if Pelican is affected by this. If you had a large purchase looming you may want to call firs until this mess is sorted. |
CDK got hacked worldwide it appears. Seems to be up and running now, at least up here.... CDK is typically a Dealership system that integrates with work orders and POS as well.
