I heard someone was Shot? I watched "On the Beach" instead.

Always loved the Classic book "On the Beach" about a world wide post nuclear war search for survival away from the Clouds of Radiation.

Australia to Alaska, the world is doomed.

They made a movie back in the early 2000's.

3 hours long. Watched the first half last night streaming.

Sobering reality in todays' times.

The book was incredible. I read it 45 years ago and still think about it.

Loved the book, loved the first movie, (I'll be interested to see the remake) and Neil Young has an album called On The Beach that's one of my favorites.

The movie's a remake of the 1959 version starring Gregory Peck, Ava Gardner, Fred Astaire.

I was intrigued with the idea of having a Formula 1 Ferrari to get around the island. Nevil Schute was a racing fan, I'll betcha.

I was emotional through a few passages.

Anthony Perkins was in the original as well.

I'm going to watch the newer one. (free with ads on YouTube)

That's up there with McCarthy's "The Road."

The 1959 version was the better of the two films.

The race in the movie was filmed at Riverside (for a neat glimpse of Riverside Intrnl Raceway back in 1959).

I haven't seen the latest version. The early version was worth watching.

1964's Seven Days in May is another good watch. An attempted military coup. (Lancaster, Douglas). Free stream on YouTube.

Great movie, did not know they did a remake. Can't imagine it measured up to the first one

The song, Morning Dew, by Bonnie Dobson was written by her right after she read the book. The Grateful Dead did a nice cover of it.

I had no idea. I love this trivia.

It's a pretty emotional song even without that bit of trivia knowledge. But when you know what the lyrics are really about, it's pretty powerful. This was the first song Bonnie Dobson wrote, then she had a nice little career afterwards.

Always liked the cover on Jeff Beck's Truth album.

The book scared the crap out of me when I read it decades ago.
