Another 'what-the-heck-is-that' thread...
This pyramid-shaped object, about 6" wide at the base, is one of several on a strip-mall rooftop near here. The building houses a variety of small business...Starbucks, fast food joints, etc. A few pyramids rotate steadily on the post...maybe around 30rpm, while others are stationary. No problem birds in the area to scare off.
What are they for? Should they all be spinning? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1724798532.JPG |

Eagle Eye bird deterrent, interesting concept. Sunlight redirected off rotating pyramid panels supposedly disorients birds in flight, limiting their vision and they avoid the area.

Dixie nailed it in 41 minutes!

Thanks Dixie & william930t, looks like that's it. Not sure how well they work though...seems like there's some bird poop on the roof right below the thing

My father-in-law had a pick your own blueberry farm in PA that he worked every weekend. He got one of those things that lets off a shotgun type blast every so often to keep the birds away. It worked for about a week, then the birds were roosting on it.
