Back when the search for the holy grail came out, I took a date to see the movie. I laughed a lot, and she sat there confused. It was my first exposure to Monty Python, but I loved the silly humor. As we left she said that was the dumbest and worst movie ever. She said there are things that should never be made fun of. I disagreed, and to this day I believe there is no subject that is above being a joke. We broke up that night. |
MP created soo many funny bits, not everyone appreciates that style of humor, but I've always been easily entertained.
I remember the early Monty Python's Flying Circus episodes being shown on an NPR station locally back in the late 70's, for that time frame there were some very racy scenes being shown plus the very off center English humor got me hooked from the first episode I saw. Man I Love this thread!!! These are all classics. I remember first hearing of Monty Pythons Flying Circus when I was in the 5th or 6th grade. My best friend had older brothers and they would listen to MP on tape as I recall. I remember one of the first sketches I heard was a conversation between two women talking about having a budgie put down by flushing it down the loo. [emoji23]

I am highly prone to being slightly ridiculous, and of course my partner knows this about me. I have quoted "One day, son, all of this will be yours" in my worst Monty Python accent enough times while standing in front of grand vistas that by now all I have to do is stand next to her and put my arm around her and she knows what's next based on context.
I have also told her (and others) that if I make any other purchases of modern German cars that she is to take the Bad Decision Bass out of the freezer and slap me with it, per the fish-slapping dance. Quote:
