I'm a traditionalist. Left to right.
First I start with the can opener... |
I eat mine from any angle or direction. The thing I wish I could change is what I put on the ears of corn. Since I was a small kid, I've poured tons of salt and pepper on a large chunk of butter, mashed it all together, and slathered it on my corn. I can't relate to eating it any other way.

Typewriter.
My grandpa had a very unique corn eating style. The finished cobs ended up perfectly square and straight on 4 sides, like 2x2 lumber, and he'd stack them neatly off to one side of his plate. 4 cobs would make a neat little square stack, and since he grew corn on his farm, 4 ears was a common occurrence for him. He loved corn on the cob. And no he wasn't overweight, he was kind of small and sinewy. |
^^^ Doesn't a standard ear have 16 rows?
Four rows per pass. |
I guess I didn't do a good enough job explaining how perfect his cobs were. The edges looked like they were at an exact 90º I've tried a hundred times to duplicate it,and failed each time.

I’m a hybrid corn cob eater. I start with the small end on the left and go horizontal a little bit and then start going vertical, until it’s all gone. I love fresh corn!

Corn I eat it like everybody else does. I thought this was how you like it cooked. Wrap in foil and roast on the grill. Winter rules you cook it in a pot of hot water. I do not live someplace with "winter" Butter and http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1725936567.jpg |
Take off the silk, remove almost all of the husk but leave one or two of the thin inner layers on. Butcher's twine around the whole thing to keep the thin husk on place. Soak in saltwater for an hour. Grill hard and hot, the sopping wet husk will keep it from burning. After 15 minutes of grilling and turning, untie the twine, take the now dry husk and wrap it backwards into a handle, cut it off, and lightly char the kernels. Eat hot. No butter unless you really need it, those kernels should be slightly tough on the skin with a good char flavor, and still juicy inside because they were soaked.
I eat it in both directions, no order to it. I mow side to side from the front of the house to the street, because I have a corded mower and it's the only way to mow without having to keep adjusting the cord so you don't run over it. |
