Apple….iPhone…Ugh….
I tried to update my iPhone 6 and it said it cannot be done wireless, but needed to be completed via iTunes. I tried iTunes and I kept getting errors. Then I tried Apple Devices and now the phone is locked wiith an error message. Ugh!
I’ve done all kind of searching online To unlock the phone, and nothing works. It’s not catastrophic, as I use this phone in my 330, for OBD readouts, at the track. Any advice on unlocking Or unfreezing it? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1726782094.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1726782094.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1726782094.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1726782094.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1726782094.jpg |
A search for all all those codes always ends up with:
Check your software Make sure your Mac or PC is up to date, and that you have the latest version of iTunes or the Apple Devices app. Check your connection Plug your device directly into your computer's USB port, and make sure the cable is in good condition. Restart your devices Restart your computer and your device. Check your security software Update, change, or uninstall any software that might be interfering with your computer's connection. Try a different computer Update or restore your device on another computer that uses a different network. Use recovery mode Restore your device to the latest version of software using recovery mode on your iPhone. Other reasons why you might not be able to update your iPhone include: Your device doesn't support the latest software There isn't enough available storage space on your device The update takes a long time to download If you're still having trouble, you can contact Apple Support. |

After eleventy thousand attempts, I finally got it unlocked and updated. I wouldn’t Have updated it, but I’ve got Harry’s LapTimer for the track, that I use and it needed the latest update.

Frankly I’m surprised you could update a iPhone that old. Curious what you mean by update? I have a 2010 MacBook Pro that will not update and no longer will connect to my iPhone 13 Pro Max by wire. With my iPhone I am afraid to update the iOS going forward because each one needs more resources than the last and just starts making the phone slower and more problematic to use.

There are G-meters...but only for the iOS 13.5 or later. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/g-meter/id1516294953
--------- There are third-party offline map apps...but only for the iOS 14.0 or later. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/maps-me-offline-maps-gps-nav/id510623322 There are official offline Apple Maps...but only for iOS 17 or later. https://support.apple.com/en-us/105084 There are offline GIS(geographical information system) maps to use in the stix. https://doc.arcgis.com/en/field-maps/ios/use-maps/download-maps.htm There is some nonsense about pairing it to a computer or whatnot. ---------- Have to ask the question, but what is it about pre-13.5iOS hardware...that can't handle OBD2 or maps? |

If I knew it was gonna be this much trouble, I wouldn’t have done it. I just wanted to make the phone a blank slate, as I sometimes leave the windows down and the phone mounted low on the dashboard/Instrument panel, in case somebody grabbed it. The battery needs servicing, as it doesn’t hold a charge very long, but I keep it plugged in to the charger/cigarette lighter. |
Thanks for the info.

There are some online Mac user groups who might assist. You could go to an Apple Store/get a genius bar appointment.
