My Wife and I Went on a Honor Flight Last Weekend
I was asked a couple months ago if I wanted to go on the end of September Honor Flight which is now taking us old guys who fought during Vietnam. I said yes by all means since I am getting pretty along in my years and my "new bride" has never been to D.C. so it will be a great trip although pretty busy seeing the military memorials all in just a Saturday and a couple non-stop flights. Since I don't walk fast at all now days a lot of the time I had to ride a wheelchair but that was fine with me but Patricia kept telling me I was too heavy! Any ways if there are any folks here or their dad, mom, brother, sister, ETC I would strongly recommend doing one of these. Here are a couple of pictures and maybe Zeke or Dave D will remember me? Thanks for sharing and of course for your service, John.
My Mom went back in 2012 for her WWII service and said it was the most gratifying yet humbling experience of her life. ![]() At her funeral a couple weeks ago, an old friend of mine who attended shared with me that he has accompanied several veterans (they're called "Guardians") through the years and even stayed in contact with them - one being a WW II pilot, who eventually passed away.
