Radiator fans are Spal still the best ? S10 V8 related
I know " best " can be subjective but generally speaking are Spal radiator fans still considered the best ? My Chevy S10 with 5.3 has two electric fans . One is not working . The shop that the previous owner had the V8 conversion done by did a great install but they were sloppy on the fans . They look like they came off a GM product but the shroud is held in place by zip ties .
I have ordered an aluminum shroud and will need two 12 " puller fans . No name fans from 20 bucks to Spal at 150 bucks and everything in between . No I would never use a 20 dollar fan but are there good alternates besides Spal ? With one working fan the temp gets to 210 - 220 when idling. When driving it drops below 200 . Most of the less expensive fans move 800 to 900 cfm . Spals are 1250 + depending on the model and blade configuration . With more cfm comes additional amp draw . About the best price I have found for Spal is a twin pak on Amazon for 149 bucks . That's probably a good buy . Any recommendations or advice ?

I don’t have any long-term reports, but I have a 16 or 18 inch Spal fan on my E46 330. I wired it on a separate circuit, with an adjustable rheostat and thermometer (?) attached to the radiator So far so good.

I have a Spal on one side and a no name next to it. I know that does not help but it does work for me.

Your little hot rod is starting to nickel and dime you to the poorhouse. Better let me make you an offer on it before it ruins your life.

No clue on the ratings but the Spal is a 12" and the no name is a 10". Never gets over 200 degrees with the AC on and 95 degree day. I have a thick aluminum radiator. Its been 6 over years since I put this together and I just dont remember the details.
