Why I do most of my buying online.

Saw an ad online for a 6 qt Gourmia air fryer for $39 at Target. Thought I would try another one because mine doesn't have the variable settings. (it's either on or off)

I went to Target today and the one I wanted wasn't on the shelf. A lady scanned the $39 tag on the shelf and said they have three of them in back. I told her I would take one.
About 15 minutes later, she came back with one. I took it to the one and only checkout open.....eight self serve stations next to it, but not open yet.
Stood in line of about 8 women with shopping carts for about 10 more minutes.

Got to the front of the line and the girl scans my box and says "$83.20 please"
I told her the shelf sticker said $39.95 and the associate helping me agreed that was the price on the one she retrieved.

The gal said...."Are you a 'red circle member'?"

I turned away leaving the box there and left the store.

There was no marking on the shelf sticker that it required buying a membership.

Just now, I looked on Amazon and they have the same one for $39 shipped free.
I ordered it....I'll hopefully never go back to Target.

I have a major grudge against the local Target, the land they are on is where I would go squirrel hunting on when I was in highschool. Massive granddaddy oaks all around and they flattened it scorched earth style pre construction

^^^ I would laugh also if I were him.

This is the exact same one that Target wanted $80 for.

I like to avoid crowds or anywhere that crazy people might congregate. Online shopping is an excellent way to accomplish both.

^^^
It was about 8:30 in the morning...or it would have been much worse. The floor lady that retrieved the fryer was very helpful and friendly....no complaints there at all.

They should have had the shelf sticker marked that a 'red circle' membership was required....but they didn't. (I'm not even sure that it's legal to do that)

I buy at least 75% of my purchases online.

Bezos has enough money, but I still continue to use Amazon. It’s just so damn easy to think of something, pick up the phone and order it.

What??
Why not just click on it to order?

The Prime truck is here almost every day. I thought that was a lot, but my neighbor never misses a day without it stopping there.

I don't have an Amazon account.
Supporting the brick & mortar stores in my little, local town is a good thing.
Also- Nobody will deliver up my steep, private road.
Anything online must be picked up at the post office, so I'm still going into town.

If you live in a rural area, it's the most convenient way to shop. I need some cedar stakes that I have to get from H.D. or Lowes. This requires me to make a 60 mile round trip. There is an ACE Hardware about half that distance, but the price is three to four times more. If it was something I could order online and have it delivered, I would. Making comparisons online is much quicker than having to drive to different stores.

^^^ I'm in the same situation.
30 miles to the closest city of any size.
Smaller towns closer...good if one needs pizza or cannabis.

I rarely buy anything online, like brick and mortar, just got two jugs of Valvoline 20W50 on the way home yesterday for about $80

That said, today I spent double that buying stuff from our sponsor

I live in a city though

Toss Ebay into that group too. It's mind blowing that someone would counterfeit a damn spark plug! I bought some NGK's a while back and how to look into how to identify a counterfeit friggin spark plug. I have four Dewalt batteries that I've used for several years now that I recently discovered were counterfeit.

We live very rural. We are fortunate to have 4 small/farm town hardware stores <12 miles, and one that's like a cross between a farm store and big box store about 20 miles away. But none of them carry as much stuff as a HD or Lowes. Fortunately, sometimes HD and/or Lowes has what I need with free shipping. If that's the case, then I may order it. If that's not the case, then we make the 50 mile hike. It's actually a new store that shaved about 7 miles off of the previous hike that we used to have to make.

If we want to go to Target, we're making a 50 mile hike. We have a small town Walmart ~10 miles away. I've probably been <5, definitely <10 times in the last 3.5 years.

We do order a lot of stuff from Amazon. Almost the entire time, they've been shipping via USPS and it's been great. They recently switched to UPS and it's added 1-2 days, but other than that, still reliable.

We buy local when we can, but there's a lot that we can't buy local (or if we did, it would be 3-5x the price which may not be a big deal when the item is <$20, but starts to add up when the cost goes up.

I limit ebay purchases to stuff that I can't get anywhere else. I do VERY LITTLE eBay purchasing. You never know what you're really going to get. You never know if it's going to be packed adequately. You never know what sort of BS you're going to have to deal with. It's rarely, barely worth it.

I make every attempt to support local businesses. I avoid Amazon like the plague.

I use my phone for online ordering. In fact, I use my phone for all Internet activity.

^^^ Sorry, I was reading it as you were calling them for the order.
My bad.

I sometimes use my phone for ordering...but mostly my Fire tablet or laptop.
