New Propella arrived Saturday!

Model 7S XR with longer range battery. It's a 7 speed with 5 power levels for pedal assist.

1st pic shows the Meter on the left that has speedometer, odometer, time of day, power level (1-5), and battery charge level.
On the right side is the gear selector indicator (1-7)
In the middle of the bars is my Garmin Varia that shows approaching cars from the rear. It has audible tone and diff colors for distance from me.

2nd pic is after it's first ride....23 miles
It's extremely smooth and quiet.
I ordered a pair of Ergon Grips to replace the originals.

Congrats! I find that I exercise MORE with an E-bike. It is so fun, that I just push it a bit.

^^^ Thanks...it's my second Propella and I'm very happy with them.

No reason to check the wind or hills before every ride....just thumb-up the power.

Congrats on your new e-bike, Steve!

I have 3 electric bikes now.....and all are different --- for different uses here.

I tend to use the latest purchased model the most because of it's fat tires because I ride on the beach more than other areas here.

But what I wanted to share with you is a mirror product I have on all my bikes that's only $14.70 from Amazon. Relatively easy to install and I find it is everything you want in a bicycle mirror. In fact, I have bought 8 of them so far - 1 for each of my bicycles.

Mirrycle MTB Bar End Mountain Bicycle Mirror, Black

There are a lot of different style mirrors on the market plus other methods to help awareness of what's behind you, such as your Garmin device. I just wanted to provide an endorsement on this product, in case it helps anyone. These mirrors are REALLY GREAT!

I also outfit my bikes with a couple bottle holders on the handlebars. One for my water bottle and one for a portable music player I use that accepts USB flash drives loaded with MP3 files compilations I create.

I also paint coated the spoke nipples with Por-15 before her first ride to mitigate corrosion - which has helped immensely.

I also changed my grips....

Couple pics from earlier this year:

Another pic of the mirror. It's easily adjusted in all directions but doesn't move on it's own thanks to the design-build.

Yeah, they are great mirrors, I've been using them for the past 12 years. I forgot to attach one when I took that pic. New grips are coming today...these spiky plastic ones that it came with are worthless!

A man bun won't fit under my bike helmet and I don't own one piece of cycling wear.

I see guys on the bike trails, with their first bikes, in full spandex suits with a number on them....oh well.

Always seemed like a waste of time to me to put on a special costume to go for a bike ride! Looks like a pretty reasonable price for your new ride (just googled it).

I'm not a biker in any way shape or form, but I did do a one week 300 mile ride a few months ago. I noticed a few things. Lots of 'bikers' are now 'riders', mostly due to age and bad knees from what I saw.

Also, some 'bikers' 'must', at all times wear 'biking clothes'. Even when they go for dinner. I guess it's their 'hey everyone, I'm a biker' signal. Whatever.

The Propella line are all pedal-assist bikes. If I stop pedaling, the bike coasts to a stop.
I go further with it because the wind or hills aren't as big a factor anymore.

I believe that with the extra distance, I'm burning as many calories as I was using my regular pedal bike. (which is a belt driven bike)

We met one group that allowed only pedal assist, but we also saw lots of 'riders'. I couldn't care less. Be respectful of other riders, and enjoy the ride, in whatever way you want to.

E-bikes are definitely extending the riding age, and that's a good thing.

My Model 7S arrived last Thursday. It's still in the box. They told me it was shipped on the same day I told them to cancel the order.
I'm not that interested in it now. I ordered it before we got our puppy. The plan was to see if Vicki liked it and if she did we would order one for her and we would have another activity to share.

Then we got Lacey. Bikes and dogs don't mix - instead of going for rides I'll be going for walks with Vicki and Lacey.

wd, it looks like the 7S is currently unavailable for a while. (Propella has an interesting sales scheme. It must be working for them.) If they won't take it back you probably won't have any problem selling it. I wonder if the warranty would transfer to the new owner if it's NITB.

Bike and dogs can mix but it takes some adjustment. Here’s my wife pulling our 70lb Great Pyrenees/GSD dog around the Grand Canyon a couple of years ago.

Propella has a 14 day free return policy.

Have had the Propella for one week as of today.

Comparing it to the Model 7 that I had before...
This one is much quieter and stronger. The battery uses a different carriage and it doesn't rattle at all.
The battery is showing over 75% remaining after biking 20 miles. (using mostly 2 or 3 power level out of 5)
When riding in 1-4 power setting, I can't hear any motor sound...the old one did.

I've put on 105 miles in the first week and it's a very nice ride.

Pic of the new Ergo Grips... a big relief while riding.

Lots of wide expansion joints and crumbled asphalt in my riding route...so I mounted a Zoom suspension seat post yesterday. Big difference..no sharp hit anymore, and it's weight adjustable.

Two weeks and 251 miles on the bike now.
