Classical, Spanish, acoustic guitar music, Love it!
My parents always listened to music so I assume that's why I love it. From the time that I was old enough to remember until my dad retired, he always had a very nice stereo system. My dad played cello in school and later guitar (mostly quit when he went back in the Navy and we started traveling). I kind of wish my parents had forced me into playing something, at least for a little while.
I remember my dad playing guitar from time to time, and one of the things that I've always remembered him playing, and I loved, is Malagueña. Many years ago, I had a bunch of classical and Spanish guitar music that was in my regular rotation. I haven't in a while, but recently queued up a new channel on Pandora that I seeded with Marcin Patrzałek. Pandora has added a bunch of good stuff. I'm going to add some more variety. But Malagueña is always a favorite (a few great renditions) not acoustic, but still a great listen

I'm not a player, so maybe this is not a big deal, but I'm impressed.

Some of the other stuff, Paco de Lucia, Andres Segovia, and Estas Tonne.
I feel like there may have been an old thread on Spanish guitar (I may have started it). I'll have to go back and see if I left anyone out that I could add.

The impressive thing is that I remember thinking Charo was awesome when I was a little kid (~1975) due to her over the top personality and comedy, and I remember her playing guitar. And she's still performing 50 years later.

When I listen to folks like that, I am reminded that I am not a guitar player, although I do play enough to back up my vocals. 55 years and I am still learning. Not much, but I am learning.

That may be the first time I've heard 'Malagueña' on guitar. It's Cuban, written by the wonderful Cuban composer, pianist and bandleader Ernesto Lecuona. Here's a version of it from the 50s with Lecuona on the piano:
Here's a rendition of my favorite composition of his, 'La Comparsa', on a Spanish guitar: And finally, since Paganini came up and I love gypsy jazz, here's the Romanian violinist Florian Cristea playing Paganini on the violin:

Patience please using the link. Article is worth reading before you watch the clips. Rene is my daughter’s teacher (junior in her BFA Guitar Performance degree.) I’ve posted some of her videos before. She needs some new stuff. …incoming new guitar this month - so expect some new material. Hope you enjoy. Rene is amazing. |

I and my system love classical and acoustic guitar. I am actually a frustrated player.
