Scam?
If so, they're getting clever...Cindy says she already filed online. It looks very legit, but...nope didn't click. When I suggested she contact turbotax, she laughed...
Intuit Logo Sign in Dear Valued Customer, * We noticed you have not finished filing your 2023 taxes in TurboTax. Although the tax deadline has passed, we want to inform you that TurboTax Online will still be available until October 31, 2024, 9pm PST to e-file your 2023 return. Finish now If you need more time or are one of the residents eligible for the additional extended deadline*, and file after October 31, you will no longer be able to file using TurboTax Online. You can still file using our TurboTax Desktop product, but will need to re-enter your information and upload your forms. * Don't lose all the progress you've made so far; save time and finish filing today. * Regards, TurboTax Support Team Intuit logo TurboTax logo Quickbooks logo Credit Karma logo

I figure most things that start with "Dear valued customer" aren't real. If it's Intuit, they know know my real name and would use it rather than be generic.

I’ve been getting those lately. I’ve never used them, so I know it’s a scam.

Another reason NOT to have your name in your email address.
If your email was chunkymonkey69@aol.com the scam email would read “Dear chunkymonkey,” Any legit emails I get always have my name, not email address. You could smell this as fraud. If your email address was homersimpson@aol.com The spam the fraudulent email would read “Dear Homer Simpson,” Which may fool someone. I hope there is a special place in hell for these spammers.
