Yup, I remember that. Good thing it was free on HBO.

Over 100 degrees f. in that ring. 14th round, Frazier couldn't see. Note the ref. guiding him to his corner. It was good his manager stopped it. But really, both were "the closest thing to death", as Ali later described it.

Golden era indeed...

gotta love a professional sport where the goal is to render your opponent unconscious.

I wish farting was a sport.

My sister's dog would have been licensed to kill.

Tyson is 58... That's way too old to be fighting in a ring IMO.

Is no one concerned about Tyson's age? Think brain injury or worse.

Yeah, just about everyone is…

When Tyson fought Lewis in Memphis, I was at the Bureau of Naval Personnel in Millington, TN.

They asked us to do the pre-fight stuff in the ring. I was the OinC of the detachment but did not get in the ring:cool:

The guys said it was an amazing thing to see up close.

T vs P? Not sure why other than a pay day and that is often all you need.

Watched the pre-special last night and it was interesting.
Paul is also running this side show? Talk about getting even more stinking rich.
Mike is going to punch his lights out.

My take is that Tyson was 10X the boxer Paul could ever be. At 58, Tyson is probably half the boxer he was making him 5X the boxer Paul is.

I'll be watching this fight! Tyson by KO in the 3rd, David

Geronimo '74 11-14-2024 06:20 AM

Loudmouth youtubers annoy the shid out of me.
I hope he gets knocked out quick and hard.

Yep, it's not good enough for him to get knocked out quickly...I want him to feel some broken ribs first.

BetMGM odds
Paul win: -175
Tyson win: +180
Tie: +900

A full replay of that fight...for those who didn't see it. Tyson, out of Prison, was the favorite, if I recall correctly.

The fights on Friday? I guess I’ll find out Saturday who won. Yawn…

This was a long time after he was in prison if memory serves and I don’t think that Tyson was ever favored. Through the strange journey of life, I know them both pretty well but I’ve never talked about that fight with either of them. Talked plenty about other fights with both, however.

DWBOX2000 11-14-2024 06:22 PM

Tyson was a changed man at the Lewis fight, it was like he had found peace and happiness. Had lost his killer instinct. Tyson had a punchers chance but Lennox was in his prime.

speeder 11-14-2024 07:12 PM

Tyson could not get near Lennox with that jab stopping him. LL’s jab is possibly the best in history and he is an absolutely huge man…so much bigger than Tyson it’s almost comical.
