Rush fans, check out my latest gig videos.
Humble brag here. Some of these came out pretty well. I obviously wasn't the one filming. These guys are buddies and asked me to sub for this gig. It started out being a 50 min set, then 45, then 30, so we couldn't do any deep cuts, just the popular songs everyone knows. I so wanted to just bang out side one of Hemispheres, mic drop and walk off. But no.
We were opening for the Iron Maidens and the house was packed, well over 1000 people, including Randy Johnson the baseball player (a huge Rush fan). Sound and light production were the best I've ever had for a gig, but again, this is all iPhone video from the wife and friends. Freewill Limelight YYZ

Nice job. I wouldn't want to be the guy playing the drums.

You did a great job.
First concert we took our son to was Rush. No opening act, just played 3 hours straight.

Thanks. We have a gig in El Paso in August and I think we'll have at least 90-120 min. So we get to play the real fan, deep cut stuff, which is what I love about Rush. The catalogue is so deep. I think we probably have enough material now, just the stuff off the top of our heads, without learning anything new. But we'll polish it some. Can't wait to play Natural Science, Camera Eye, Circumstances and Farewell to Kings.

Fred, the guys I used to play this stuff with in Pittsburgh flew out to Phoenix for this gig. I think it lit a fire under them to pull something together in the Burgh. So I think it will happen in the next six mos. or so.

Outstanding!
I'd like to see you play again sometime. I first met Rick way back when Big Head Todd played there and Jeremy got us in to meet him and the band.

Take a bow, Sir. That is a job well-done. I am a gigging musician, and I suddenly feel unworthy.
That bass player makes a passable Geddy. Same slender build, same hair, same stage movements and similar voice. Hard to find that combo. Plus some good bass chops. Impersonating Geddy Lee takes a lot of skill and courage. Dude, I never imagined you with a pony tail until now. We've met. Your hair was about a half inch long. Adopting a hippie lifestyle now, are you?

Not only that, but the Geddy is even playing the Moog Taurus pedals on YYZ !!
Great work. Why did the band need a sub ? How long did you prepare for this show (besides your entire life)

I've known all these songs since high school (30+ years). But when they told me the gig was mine, I did go back and do a real deep dive on some of the Moving Pictures tunes and found some stuff I'd been playing wrong for a while. Nothing anyone would notice, but I notice the difference. Superman, Thanks. The length of my hair is inversely proportional to the number of fooks I give. The older I get, well, the less time life in prison really is. Haven't had a real haircut in five years.

Again Rick, that's just a really awesome band project you have there. right place at the right time, and you came prepared.
Yes, it seems there are always small details that you find after you think you found them all. I did the same thing. Just stopped going to the hair cutter. I thought it would be easier, but I found that long hair is not really that. Still, it's easy enough and I do like the 'tight' look for business you can achieve with a brush and a hair tie. Tighter than short hair.
