Decent show but, so far, he hasn't done much of what a landman actually does. Technically it has some problems when they get anywhere near a well operation and the ex-wife narrative is a bit overdone but I'll watch anything with Billy Bob playing a character like that.

Could have done without the pinky scene.

He was good in Goliath, too.

Watched episode 6 last night. Apparently, Tommy is the GM of the company and not a "Landman" as the title indicates. I'm ok with that since calling the show General Manager wouldn't have the same ring to it.

Ok, I'll bite...what does an actual "landman" do?

Basically what Tommy's son, Cooper, ends up doing when he goes out on his own. They run around securing mineral rights and put deals together.

I just re-read my original post and realized I didn't explain it. Sorry.

Season 2 just wrapped filming. I think it comes out end of year. Can't wait.

Steve Carlton 08-08-2025 05:19 PM

Nov 17th. Looks like a weekly roll out. I'll re-watch season 1.

Steve Carlton 10-29-2025 12:24 PM

Comes out Sunday, Nov 16th on Paramount+, then every Sunday until 10 episodes are out. I'm going to hold off early-mid January until I can binge the whole thing, or most of it.

vash 10-29-2025 07:24 PM

is the hot lawyer lady still involved? never seen a single episode but I do watch the lawyer highlights on YT.

Baz 11-18-2025 02:50 PM

Watched it on Sunday.

Was OK.

No idea what's happened to the audio of these new shows. Had to enable closed captions to know what they were saying.

Not the case with any of the "older" shows I watch on the same exact TV.

It's not my hearing - something changed....and not for the better......

I liked the new episode, even if the characters are a bit over the top. Now I'm binge watching another Taylor Sheridan series, Tulsa King, with Sylvester Stallone. I'm only on season one, but so far I'm thinking I like it even more than Landman or Yellowstone.

The entirety of the daughter's character makes me cringe. She was no Einstein in season 1 but the interview scene was painful to watch.

^ Like they used to say "Keep repeating...it's only a movie"

Anyway, that daughter is moving on, or into another Taylor Sheridan project related to Yellowstone..

She was already in Yellowstone 1923.

My dad was a Geologist for Gulf Midland early 60’s. I went to rigs with him as a boy and would take my bb-gun with me to shoot grass hoppers the size of jumbo jets. At night in the fall when it cooled off the rattle snakes would crawl up to the rigs because of the heat and sound. The roughnecks always had cool collections of snake rattles.

My dad became a lawyer mid 60’s and moved back there in the late 60’s missing the oilfield. Then an oil exec till their company drilled one to many dry holes in the gulf. My brother was a Landman but got tired of all the travel. Summers in college I worked as a pumper so knew all about what goes on. My parents both died of Covid 5 years ago and we made way too many trips down sorting out estate stuff. Some or the **** they show is total bs but if you don’t know you don’t know. My best friend has a friend that went to HS with BB. Said he was an arrogant jerk in HS. We liked him in Sling Blade and have been fans since. Well hold off watching till the season is over and binge watch it. And let me tell you football is huge there.

Ha ha....the assisted living facility scene was awesome! :D

Brian 162 11-23-2025 06:15 PM

Saw the first episode tonight, The one liners in the dinner scene were hilarious.

WPOZZZ 11-24-2025 01:20 PM

Did you see Demi jogging? She is ripped!

JackDidley 11-24-2025 10:10 PM

Started season 2 tonight. Episode 1 is pretty good but for some reason BillyBobs son just irritates me. I'd be ok if they kill him off.

BRPORSCHE 11-25-2025 07:18 AM

I have spent years in and around the Midland area and elsewhere on rigs. I cannot stand this show, but my wife loves it. GD awful television.
