OT:Guys from the *US Where should I go?
OT but since you now my interest I hope the thread can stay here...
Me and a friend of mine are thinking of taking a ride to the states, what we want to see there is some kind of car-performance show, we will also combine this with a week's holiday. So the question is: Where do this Performance shows been held?? Links?? In what state do you rekommend us to stay for holiday?? (you now..cool cars and chics..) My friend is in for RICE cars so the performance show needs to show all kind of cars. Hope you guys can give me some suggestions. Thanks Jocke |
California is the place for chicks and cars. Almost broke my neck
|
I HATE TO SAY IT BUT FOR CARS/GALS.. CALI MAY BE THE PLACE..
|
Try this
Peeble Beach Concours d'Elegance Maybe it is too "classic" but very interesting. Plus it is in California and you get to drive very nice roads. I was there last summer but missed the show :( |
If not cali, miami's got women and exotics of all kinds.
|
|
Ummmm.....Not Minnesota. ;)
|
If you come to L.A. you can check out the Petersen Museum. This is probably one of the best car museums in the world.

I would say L.A., for hot cars and attractive young women it is not a contest. Plus I will do my best to show you around if interested. |
Also while in Los Angeles, check out the Merle Norman Collection in Sylmar. Mostly older cars like Rolls Royce, Duesenbergs, Cords, but a very good (Free) museum. You can't wear shorts or T-Shirts. And you need appointments for the weekends, but not week days.

Jocke,
Go to Las Vegas. You can't beat the exotic cars (Hummers, Lambos, Ferraris, ... and you can rent them too!!), plus the girls (some of them you can rent too!! :D). Also there is a large car museum in one of the hotels (sorry, can't remember which) |
Imperial Palace Hotel, quite impressive collection
|
Thanks, you folks start to temp me out in more then one place.... Looks like it can be a expensive trip, first to Cal then LA after that Las Vegas.:D :D :D
Keep them coming, it will be a hard thing to do, choosing between all this suggestions. Denis: Thanks for the invite, should be really great to run into some pelicanheads during the trip. jthwan22: Thanks for the links. Damn, this was fun, the trip starting to feel good even that I´m more confused now the before.. Thanks everyone!! /Jocke |
Los Angeles, California or Miami, Florida. For your ricer friend's sake I would recommend Los Angeles, we have an abundance of nice rice and stupid Honda *****. Jocke, let us know when you're coming so we can maybe get a meet together.
|
The Imperial Palace cars are being sold off to private collectors and the show will be gone eventually, so I was told by a guard about four months ago. A few years ago the cars were very impressive, but still it's free.

I'm not a big fan of Miami or Florida, particularly in the summer, coming from Scandinavia they will perspire to death in a matter of hours. It is extremely tropical.
Jocke, L.A. (Los Angeles) is in California, and Las Vegas is about a 4-5 hour drive from here through the desert. Once again, the heat issue; may or may not matter to you, but Vegas is a furnace in the summer. Not humid like Florida, thank god, but 115deg.F is commonly seen. You spend all of your time indoors, it is a craphole of a place, IMO. (Nomex flamesuit on). http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/...amingdevil.gif The reason why southern California is so populous is no mystery, incredible natural beauty and the best climate year round on the planet. |
Oh, and the wink to Sarah is because Minnesota, (my home state), is a beautiful place w/ lakes and clean air, but it's as close to being in Sweden as you can get in the U.S., including the people. Half of the phone book is Petersons, Andersons, Johnsons, etc. :)
|
Get the latest copy of the "imports" magazine. Find out when the next meet is in southern california, and ... show up. These hot up japanese imports shows include cars, and silicon-induced women.
I am not into Japanese cars, but ... to each his/her own. |
i vote for springfield missouri, route 66.
|
Yes...Speeder is right. Minnesota is known more for its lakes, country side, theatres & the arts more than a wild & crazy night life & exotic vehicles....(don't get me wrong...there are a few places for that ;)...just not as many as those other places already mentioned).
Just open a phone book and you'll see tons of Olson's, Johnson's Larson's, etc....heck...you might have some relatives here and not even know it. ;) Anyway....Here is a link for your next visit to the US. :) www.exploreminnesota.com |
