What’s the deal with my elbow?

What’s the deal with my elbow? Oh wait, that’s a big bump on my forearm from a piece of wood that fell from above … 😂

It was either that or getting hit in the face 🤪

WTF?

The second pic, just swollen from a strong impact? (I assume you'd know if it was broken).

The first pic, WTF am I even looking at?

Could be a swollen bursa sac. I have been experiencing that for the past month. I have a bump on my elbow about the size and shape of half a golf ball. It's soft - literally feels like what it is, a bag of fluid. It is a "repetitive motion injury." Have you been having a lot of sex lately?
I got mine from driving a bunch of stakes into the ground with a four pound hand sledge.

It doesn’t hurt, unless I hit it on something, which I seem to be doing today. The swelling comes and goes, not sure the reason why. The day after it happened, in the picture above, I could not believe how big the bump was. Lots of soft tissue damage I think.

As far as sex goes, I’m right handed!!

^^^ no bruising so far.

I had to do a field dressing when it happened. I got a baby wipe, folded it up and then taped it down with some blue painters tape. Worked like a charm!

I'm surprised that's not a fractured ulna

Right! To me it looked like a horribly broken arm bordering on compound fracture. But I think that's the kind of thing that you'd notice. There would probably be some little clue to tell you "hey, something's wrong with your arm" other than a bump.

It was actually a 2’ x 5’ piece of MDF that fell from about 12 feet. If you’ve ever picked up MDF, it’s the equivalent of lead in weight. As much as it hurt right after, it subsided.

I got back to work but it felt like my sweatshirt was wet with something. I lifted up the sleeve, and there was a lot of blood on my arm and sweatshirt.

That’s when I put the field dressing on.

Edit: Ms Rocket s an ICU nurse and will be back in town tonight, so I’ll have her take a look at it.

Edit 2: looking at the pictures of my arm, it looks pretty beat up from 65 years of work and stupid stuff.

Holy cow! 3/4" thick? That's a lot of weight, and 12' is a long way for it to build speed even if it was 12' up and your arm was 3-4' up when it hit. Assuming your arm isn't broken (I think you'd know), I can understand how that would royally piss off the flesh of your arm and you might have swelling for a while.

I thought this was Unclebilly's "hurts like a bastard" broken ankle bolts thread, but instead this is an "elbow" thread.
WTH?!?
There needs to be a "Continuing broken bird parts" thread here folks!!!

So, what'd she say? Inquiring minds want to know.

I'm afraid there's only one obvious solution...

Now, now, amputating at the neck never solves anything.

And then she got out the sawzall?

Glad to hear that it's nothing to worry about in her opinion. I didn't even stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.
