It was 2008, and I was in the 911. I think the cop stopped me just to look at the car. He asked all kinds of questions about it, then wrote me up for a bul$hit 65 in a 55 zone. It cost me $65.

The only time I have rolled down the window on my 911 too talk to a cop was on a turnpike with the speed limit at 70. I was going maybe 72 and was lit up. I pulled over, hands on the steering wheel, and window down. He said "sir, we have a report of a late model white 911 as stolen". I replied that this is a 1985 model sir, hardly late model. He marveled at the paint, and asked t see the engine. I relaxed totally and popped the engine lid. We chatted for a few minutes about the car and he said it is a beauty. He said thanks, and he drove away.
I have never seen a cop out the window of my El Camino after 33 years of driving it. |
Decades ago.
Last one I didn't get out of? 80's? |
Oddly, I really can't remember.
There are enough rural roads in my area that have excellent sight lines and curves so when I had sports cars it was easy to go "off grid" so to speak. When I travel the Blue Highways (tip of the cap to William Least Heat-Moon) I always go the speed limit approaching rural towns, especially in the South. |
This thread is an invitation to jinx yourself. Nah...

I have no schedule to adhere to, sold all the fast cars and bikes.
I've worn out all the t-shirts, I'm just a grumpy old fart in training. |
3 years ago in my 996TT. 40 km/hr over.
Cop asks if I know why he pulled me over. Tells me because it looked like I was going fast. lol Commends me for having a clean record. Still gave me a reduced ticket to 15 over. |

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1733324754.jpg Just this summer I drove Barber Motorsports track going as fast as I could. I also drove Talladega track in a follow the leader thing. Cruising along at 125, AC running, no helmets, and my wife in the passenger seat. That was cool to share the experience of 125 MPH with my wife. And zero chance of a ticket or someone pulling out from a side street. |

Last one was 10 years ago towing 60 in a 55 zone near Buttonwillow. That cost me $400. Paid Mr Ticket $200 to fight it, judge reduced the fine to $200. So still out $400. Today everyone is speeding on the freeways in So Cal. Like to drive fast on track too. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/MS9eIiHh6e0?si=zNzuUpIKknimWczY" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
1985 was my last speeding ticket. The last time I was pulled over for speeding was about 10 years ago. I pulled over before the lights even came on, had my license, registration, and proof of insurance ready at the window. I was let off with a warning.

Last time was sometime back in the last century, on a Sunday, headed to Willow Springs with my brother sitting in the passenger seat telling me to slow down. I was only doing 70. Came over the hill into the valley on the 405, cruise control wouldn't hold the Mustang GT convertible back to 70 going down the hill (it's steep for those who aren't familiar), so I switched it off and applied some brake as I saw the motor cop up ahead. He got off on the ramp at the bottom where you can also get back on because it doubles as an on ramp. I switched the cruise back on and let it coast out till it picked up. He clocked me from the far right lanes of the on ramp so had to do 75 to keep up with me because of the difference in radius of the turn. He lit me up just as he got on and I pulled over before the end of the gore point of the on ramp. He may have had trouble stopping that quickly. He walks up to the passenger window and says he clocked me at 75 and my brother immediately says NO WAY. I think he wrote me for 70, I forget now, but it still cost me.
I was the only shiny black car out there that morning and he must have had a quota to fill as I wasn't going any faster than surrounding traffic. To make sure I didn't get any more tickets on the way up to the track, I parked it in the fast lane at 55. I avoid the freeways now with a passion as most of the drivers are going too fast for their own good. I'm a curmudgeon and don't give a rats a$$ any more. |

On the other hand, our Land Rover Discovery 4, aka LR4, has 375 bhp. When my wife stopped driving it, I started. It has the sort of power and brakes that will get you in trouble very quickly. |
Last ticket I recall was in Austria around 2003/4. Heading over the Alps to Innsbruck on 2 lane roads in a white elephant Lincoln Navigator, I was trying to blend in. Cop with a lolipop wand on side of road waves me over, taps on my speedo and says 'too fast'. Paid 30 or 40 Euros on the spot, cash.

It has been about 5 years. Which means I am probably due for another.;)

Circa 1986 in an 1984 --iron duke powered chevy celebrity --one mile from home. Local cop
ridiculous on so many levels. |
Sounds like I'm not driving fast enough. I haven't had one for many (many many) years.

Last one about 15 years ago in a small town outside of Thermopolis, WY (which itself is small!). I was going about 4 mph over the limit in a rental, where the speed dropped from something like 25>20>15 in the span of about 300 ft - classic out of towner gotcha trap. Sheriff held me up for about 40 mins lecturing me on the dangers of speeding, lol....what are you gonna do though? Meanwhile there was a meth head Indian in an old jalopy with no plates behind me for miles, and he sailed right on by.
