Texas Trash

A friend made this up for last weekend's game and it was great with beer.
She sent me the link to the recipe. She used cashews for the nuts.
I might try it sometime this month...I'd cut the recipe in half.
There might be better recipes out there for this.

I'd eat that. Should use bacon grease!

She did.
The above link to the recipe calls for bacon grease....I don't know if I would use La. hot sauce.

Odd, this showed up on my phone recently

Mala spiced chex-mix

If I make it, the pretzels would not be in there. They don't soak up any of the butter/bacon grease. Not a pretzel fan anyway.

Gawd, it looks delicious! Low in carbohydrates, I'm sure...

I saw the "grease" but must have skimmed past the "bacon" part.

You've got to use something spicy, whether it's a hot sauce or chipotle powder or cayenne powder or crushed red pepper.

I worry more about taste than carbs. :D

You have no idea how much I wish I could do the same. Enjoy an extra handful for me, okay?

Her mix was more 'hot' than I would have liked. If I followed the recipe, I would try a quarter the amount of the La. hot sauce called for.

I will.:)
My weakness in this mix are the cashews. Don't know if they are bad for a person, but they sure are addictive. (to me)

I’m too impatient. Maybe there’s a way to add a hot sauce to already made Chex Mix?

WPOZZZ 12-06-2024 06:07 PM

What's Texas about it?

That would be fabulous but you’d have to call it North Dakota Debris.

Add to taste - as a benefit, it'll be more or less invisible so nobody will know if it's a bowl of nicechex or deathchex.

The batch I had a few years ago was very pleasantly smoky. It went great on any salty snack - we kept a jar in our conference room for breaktime amusement. Unless you're experienced, if you can see it on your cheezy poof you're going to have a bad time.

The (Louisiana) hot sauce.

 Wouldn't that be a Party Gras mix?

I knew a Terry Trash, who's band was called Texas Trash and the Trainwrecks.

I don't think most of you guys would like his music, it's a bit high-browed for you folks.

He's missing two limbs. From 2 different encounters with trains. Honest to god. Dudes one of a kind for sure...

Mom made it ... it was just called "Trash" ... it disappeared rapido even tho' she didn't use hot sauce .... and it would have been Texas Pete ... made in NC ;).

Don't know if she used bacon grease....

Me ... Texas Pete is mild, I'd be using Lou-Easy-Anna and LOTS more of it....

Cajun Trash sounds awesome!

If you've ever had a Debris Po' Boy from Mother's right outside of the Fr. Qtr. .... you know what I'm thinkin' :)
