I presume there are no commercials during the broadcast. I have been flowing F1 since 1997 and I miss David Hobbs as the color commentator. He was great. Is F1 TV so blatantly pro British as Sky is? No doubt, the have a lot to be proud of, as most teams are based there, and the first F1 race championship race was held there. And most of the commentators are British. Everyone has a bias, and to be proud of the local industry totally understandable. |
Like probably most people I am very happy for Lando, it is a good story and he seems like a genuine guy, not a machine nor ever pretending to be one. Refreshing.
I have to say though, I am becoming a Max fan... I really disliked the guy when he came in, the crashing, the attitude (the Jos training I guess), but he grew up and IMO he is turning into quite a likable person... He seems genuine also and speaks his mind. When he says one more WC will not change his life you kinda believe him, the first one was crucial to him but since then he's been more chill. I liked the way he tried to cheer up GP (his engineer) on the radio, what he said to the team, his sincere demeanor after in the cool room, and the fact that he carried that donkey of a car for half a season and almost won it all anyway - what a talent ! You also see how the guy behaves with Kvyat's daughter, he always is super sweet with her even when she interrupts a Sim race or whatever... And races GT cars, sims, anything, like a Jim clark or yore... Honestly I always disliked Horner/Marko and early Max, but at this point with the Musketeer Mekies and the current Max I am becoming a fan of Redbull (hope Hadjar does OK). Well done to them, great comeback with only one driver, no "games" played in the finale, good for them ! |
All in all one of the more enjoyable F1 seasons that I can remember in a very long time. Let's hope that they can keep this ball rolling with the new technical specifications. I hope it shuffles the deck, I would like to see a real wild card out of left field. Maybe possible for one season, if one team "finds something" (re Braun Racing), but I'm sure the big teams will quickly close whatever gap may form. We'll see.

Glen, I think you will like F1 TV. No commercials. Their commentators are knowledgeable, articulate and real. Their insights into strategies and outcomes are spot on. Usually because they were racing drivers themselves.
|
Helmut Marko seems to be leaving - now I can definitely root for Redbull more ;-)

Congratulations to Lando and McLaren, both are well deserved champions
Another F1 championship around the sun for me and another lost on the last race :( 2008 Massa lost by 1points 2010 Alonso lost by 4 points 2012 Alonso lost by 3 points 2025 Max lost by 2 points Have more than my fair share of championships so can't complain :) Had 6x dogs in this year's championship, 2x Redbull, 2x Racing Bulls and 2x Alpines 2026 will be back down to only 2x drivers, quite happy with that as my 1 43 model car budget has been hammered since 2019 when I last helped only one team Going to be a very interesting year, with all the new regulations the competitive order has all been thrown up in the air Place your bets now! |
Yea, max has grown up. He seemed genuine in saying he has four the champion trophies with his signature on them, another would be nice, but he knew his odds were a long shot with that car.
It will be interesting to see just what happens next year with all the teams in totally new cars, and Redbull with a new engine as well. I hope Cadillac in not at the bottom of the pack. Audi will be an interesting mix. It will be great to see five manufacturers of street cars we can buy, Mercedes, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Audi and Cadillac fighting it out amongst the other teams. |
Proud of the home team HAAS folks to get 7th place in constructors championship.
Their new agreement with Toyota Gazoo racing should bear even more fruit next season. |

Similarly this season is making me throw in the towel on Ferrari, despite a fondness for Vasseur/Leclerc and Hamilton... Next year should be fun - Will a Newey Aston deliver, will their Honda engine ? Will Alpine improve a lot (they gave up super early on 2025, Enstone folks are not stupid, Mercedes engine) ? I'd like to see Gasly on the podium again Will Ferrari implode or find something? I can see LEC and HAM quitting if it goes wrong.. Everyone thinks Mercedes has the best motor, and RedBull is in trouble with their engine, but nobody really knows.. |

Similarly, I would love to hear any general opinion on what Alpine needs to do to turn things around or if it was primarily a case of neglecting the 2025 car to focus on the 2026 package. Thanks for sharing a bit of what you can Captain. |
So happy for Lando!!
Oscar had a fantastic year too. Looking forward to next year but highly skeptical with no DRS and 50/50 battery to engine. We'll see, and I hope Ferrari cleans house and gives Charles and Lewis REAL cars with no politics. |

They promise to be a team to watch in 2026, because I suspect Toyota learned some lessons from their prior F1 quest that they won't be eager to repeat. |

Alpine and Renualt are a sad story, most of the good talent/experience has left Enstone and their technical leadership is weak I know their engine was bottom of the pile, way down on power, my feeling is the Mercedes engine will be the best, so there is high probabilty they turn out a crap car again which could easily offset any power advantage they've bought from Mercedes Maybe they do a Brawn but the chances are they'll more than likely stay last |

I am glad to see the back of ESPN. It was so bad yesterday, the moment the last champagne bubble hit the floor, the announcer woman was on telling us to F off and watch post race on the App so they could show sports center. It was pitiful as was their entire existence for the last how many years with F1.
Happy for Lando. Folks online are all conspiratorial saying the team favored Lando. I have to disagree, they favored neither and it nearly cost them both. Oscar imploded late in the season and as a result he finished 3rd. Also online people are saying Lewis wasn't supported and needs a better car. Hmmm. He got knocked out in Q1 the last 3 races while Charles made it to Q1 and decent finishes. Sorry but it was always the car and he just needs to retire. Now I don't know what to do. F1 is over. College football is over for all intents and purposes with the clown show that is the playoffs and teams, yes teams, opting out of bowl games. WTF shall I do until March??? Captain Ahab: can you DM me? I have a buddy that has 2 daughters interested in getting into F1 and could use some assistance. |
If you don't know what to do until March I suggest you start watching IMSA in January :D
