A burning societal Question

Was the one raised by Tyrus, guest hosting on tonight's Gutfeld! show.

Namely...Is "Die Hard" a Christmas movie?

What say you?

This is worthy of a poll. Of course it's a Christmas movie.

C: It's pure fantasy. No one could do all that hero stuff with his feet full of broken glass and bleeding.

Therefore, a miracle. Which would fit with a Christmas movie. ;)

No Christ, no Christmas movie.

Die Hard is a perfect example of the Mandela Effect. I remember watching Die Hard with my then husband on it's release date of Christmas, 1988. Problem is, that's not correct. While the movie takes place in December, and there's plenty of Christmas decorations in it, the movie was released in July, 1988.

That only matters if one overlooks it's the social act of discussing things that people enjoy.

just one of the reasons, its actually a harry potter movie.

the entire movie is him sneaking around a tower, at night, avoiding alan rickman.

JC is mentioned at least once, just before Hans offs Ellis.

Terrific timing; my wife just said yesterday morning Die Hard was the best Christmas movie ever. :)

The concern is not if the movie is a Christmas movie.

The concern is whether the annual DISCUSSION whether Die Hard is a Christmas movie is in and of itself a Christmas movie.

No one cares about the movie, but they do care if the movie is a Christmas movie. It's in that liminal space between sanity and the normal flow of the interwebz. We are talking not about a movie and a holiday, but the Platonic Ideals of "Movie" and "Holiday".

vash 12-10-2024 07:07 AM

lots of Holiday movies that never mention baby Jesus.

ELF. Chirstmas Story...<----it's in the title. both of my examples are hella unrealistic as well. except it is confirmed that a Chinese restaurant is probably open on Christmas Day. that's what we are doing. hahahha.. meeting at Great China in Berkeley for some peking duck.

masraum 12-10-2024 07:41 AM

I haven't seen DH in years. It's a funny, entertaining movie. The memes/etc... about it are funny.

Another way of saying U.S. culture has jumped the shark.

There's no way Die Hard came out in '88. I was 38 when it came out, and I'm 48 now...
