Rather humorous in light of the recent "mistake" West Point made trying to destroy the reputation of a political appointment.

Snitches get stitches is the polar opposite of "see something, say something".
One or the other is wrong.

Actually, they could both be right. See something, say something could be the morally right thing to do, but that wouldn't keep bad people from getting revenge.

There's also a difference between reporting a bomb threat and reporting a classmate with a bong.

I'm not recommending that a person smoking in the dorms get reported. But we're looking for an answer that is black and white, it's probably better to report all infractions than never report any infractions. But as I said in my first response in this thread

If you saw a drunk driver swerving all over the road, I'm guessing you would report it? What about someone that was speeding, running an amber light, or double parked? It's not morally wrong to report any of them.

The criminals (who might also have plants within the authorities): Snitches get stitches I guess it says a lot about a society about how willing people are to report crimes. I know in a lot of parts of Mexico, for instance, if you see something, you didn't see **** you just keep on walking.

Turn the table and tell your son they need to pay up or get ratted on. Squeeze them till they back down. Demand. demand & demand some more. Make them know this is not going to be easy and payback will be a *****

If I had a roommate toking on the stink weed, yea I would report it. Especially if I was kicked out for not reporting it, if he got caught. I would guess (no direct knowledge) a dorm room in 2024 is non smoking even for a cancer stick cigarettes.

Back in high school the kid next to me put a cheat sheet on the back of the chair in front of him (us) right before a test. I got up and moved to an open seat that couldn’t see the cheat sheet and took the test.
Eventually the teacher saw the cheat sheet and pulled the kid out to the hall. Office visit for him. After class she held me back and complemented the way I played it.

I think the dorms were "no smoking" when I was there in the late 80s. But there were folks that smoked pot (guy right across the hall). I've never smoked pot or cigarettes. My parents smoked cigarettes. I'd rather be around someone smoking pot than cigarettes. (neither is better, but pot is the lesser of two evils if you have to smell it).

I used to sleep over in my GF room while her roommate was there. And her neighbors also knew I was there. One such occasion happened to coincide with a fire drill. I just made myself as flat as possible under the covers, and I was on the top bunk which I assume helped.

Glad if a solution worked itself out. Also, your son is darned glad to be back at home. He may not be saying it. But- He's thinking it. Great opportunities for both of you. Enjoy the next couple of weeks! ![]() \
