Hello Everybody!

In the strange cosmos of the universe I have been sucked back into the PPOT forum via a random IM from someone who bought my neighbor’s Lotus Evora S. Which has sadly been crashed at some point after his ownership. Anyway I decided to see what’s going on since I checked out in 2021 and am happy to see generally the same group of a-holes posting about a littany of random crap and I realized in a sad sadistic way, I miss this place. Not that I was missed but I figured what the hell, I need something to burn some spare time in my life. For those following along at home my car collection is sadly dwindled due to kids that for some reason need cars to drive. My 20 year old A&P mechanic son has a C6 Corvette so I guess I can live vicariously through him. I have a 2007 Mazda RX8 with about 29k that I picked up earlier this year and am working through a variety of PM tasks, it’s RX8 #3 and rotary #4 counting the RX7 that I bought from Seahawk and restored. Sadly Porsche-less for now, though my car guy 14 year old has aspirations so we’ll see what happens. Otherwise I sold my Gladiator for a Ram Limited and sold my wife’s E63 this summer, so things are pretty dull in the car department. Good to see some familiar names and I look forward to reconnecting with some old friends!

Nope! Sounds like something I would have said during the Covid times.

Just saying.

All in all a better choice, though I suspect also a more expensive one. Congrats!

Hey Tim, yes still kicking around. Just finished an 2+ year stint in N. Texas running an ISR business jet program. Actually in my last week then I’m transitioning to a new remote military aerospace role that should be dramatically better from a family perspective.

onewhippedpuppy 12-12-2024 03:32 AM

Thanks all for the kind words, glad to see many of the same names. I’m looking forward to some crazy Tim projects and seeing Shaun make old obsolete Porsche parts look like brand new:). Over the last few years I’ve often had the thought that “I should ask Pelican”, so I look forward to taking advantage of the braintrust.

I think we have an AI Bot impersonating onewhippedpuppy...because no one buys three (3) RX8s!

Just kidding welcome back stranger.

Ha! Well played. I’ll definitely shill for these things as unappreciated cars, especially for the money.

Hey Paul, yes all good with the family. Oldest is getting ready to start real life as an A&P, daughter is a senior and headed to University of Oklahoma next year to study Aerospace Engineering, 8th grade son is doing well at school and shaping up to be a pretty damn solid football and baseball player. No complaints!

wdfifteen 12-12-2024 07:37 AM

Seems like only yesterday we were saying, "Poor Matt, we hardly knew ye." And now you're back.
From one A-hole to another, good to see you back.

Welcome back! I thought you were gone for good, it's been a while.

Seahawk 12-13-2024 08:02 AM

Matt, how did you like the Jeep Gladiator?

I will be moving South in a year or so and want to get out of the 1/2 ton truck world.

I have looked at and driven a number of older convertible cars that would be for fun and nothing, especially the a/c side of the ledger, really jumps out.

My thought is to get a convertible Gladiator for chores and trips to lakes and the beach.

For around town, trips to the beach, putting around, etc a Gladiator would be fantastic! Honestly when I bought mine that was much more its purpose. My work was about 2 miles from home, and we frequently pulled the doors and tops on nice days just to drive around town. Then I took a job that had me mostly in Texas and everything changed. As good as the JT is around town it’s that bad on the highway, especially the Mad Max Thunderdrome of DFW. Around town it’s nicely equipped, has good features, well laid out, has adequate space for four adults, and fun to drive. On the highway it’s slow, gets terrible MPG, loud as hell, and gets slapped around by every semi truck. I always loved the truck, but my opportunity to do “Jeep stuff” ended up being about 1% of how I was actually using it. I traded it in on a Ram Limited and have been much happier.

RANDY P 12-16-2024 05:43 AM

What up?

Been some time :)

Seahawk 12-16-2024 06:22 AM

VVV As always, thanks. My goal is to continue to DD the Land Cruiser and use a small truck for around town, the Lake, beach, etc. I just want some open air basics combined with not being worried about a soon to be 30 year old pristine interior on the LC!

I have errands to run this afternoon so I'll go do a "fit check" at the Jeep dealer.

Thanks!
