pantry dive!! my grocery store is like THUNDERDOME!
holy..thought about home cut sushi.. my fishmonger had a line of clients around the building. nope!
so, I drove by my grocery store. I pulled into the parking lot and a soccer mom started yelling about me trying to steal her parking spot..there were none! I look and people were fighting over a shopping cart. hahaha..hohoho..I drove right out and went home. I have a half chicken thawed... pantry dive. GREEN CHILI Chicken Posole, it is. so fun. I am in too good a mood to throw elbows in a grocery store. I'll hit it up tomorrow at 7:00 am in case I need any holiday ingredients. oh, crap..I need sausage for the stuffing. 7:00 am it is!! Merry Christmas people. have a great time. |
I just clicked because at a glance the thread title said panty dive.

It was a bit mayhem around here too. |
Merry Christmas, Vash! I'm sure whatever you're cooking will be good.

We hit the store today midday because I'm off all week. I expected it to be a mad house, but it was actually quite chill, plenty of parks, nothing crazy on the inside. I'm glad we got there early.
Yep, get there early tomorrow or don't go at all. Good luck! |
Silly me. I thought the thread was titled, Panty Dive, and thought, boy howdy this'll be interesting...

At least I am not the only one. :D |
Kids! Never the sense to plan ahead...all needed supplies have been in place for days. No plans to venture forth until the craziness is over. Merry Christmas to all.

Grocery stores during the holidays, 7:00 AM is where it’s at. Otherwise people are crazy……
|
I drove around the lot for 20 minutes today at the local freddy's, and went home. Way worse inside no doubt.

On topic. I'm a glutton for punishment. I hit Aldi looking for a couple chicken breasts to put on the smoker. Nope! Wasn't satisfied with theirs so to WalMart. OOF. Worst part is, I wasn't overly enthusiastic about WalMart's selection and considered hitting Meijer. Thankfully I returned to my senses, grabbed the ones from WalMart and headed home. The only place I stopped yesterday that wasn't crazy busy was the butcher shop where I snagged four beautiful two inch thick cut Ribeye steaks. Merry Christmas to me! |

There were just a few shoppers, and fully stocked shelves. I asked the check out clerk if he was ready for the upcoming Christmas rush. He rolled his eyes, and sighed. He said there is no way to really be ready. It is just a madhouse. I am very happy we missed the rush. We got all we needed and left with no issues at all. |

3pm, I’m at the hangar puttering around. My wife sends me a list of emergency last minute crap. Everything is closing in ten minutes and or a borderline riot situation.
|
Picked up the turkey yesterday, small local market was lined up out the door. Picked up some buns and bread from a local bakery this morning. Same thing lined up out the door. I’m done, not leaving the house until Friday.

It's like they didn't know December 25th was coming. Our local mall sits on RT 80 and the line of cars waiting to get into the parking lot was out onto the highway shoulder!

One of the dogs takes CBD oil for her hips. Last minute Christmas Eve shopping at the weed store is extra fun. Lord this town is full,of stoners.

Special trip across town 25 minutes to visit the good butcher for 2.5 pounds of goat for curry. Walked in and there’s like 7 people in line where I’ve never seen more than one.. Takes 15 minutes to be served I also scored 3 lbs of hanger steak. I turn to leave and whole shop is a line. Out the door and 25-30people lined up down the block!
Walking to car I stop at pizza place for a slice, sit and eat look up and line for pizza is out the door. For some reason I was just ahead of the curve on Xmas -2. Traffic was light for me. Beef curry came out great. Goat curry simmered for 5 hours but still hard chewy chunks. 90 more minutes people arriving and it was getting tender, an hour later and it was a goat curry ragu. Hungry guests it was all eated. |
