Best Place To Ask Questions

This is among the best sites I have used for random questions but I think surely there are other forums with more participants. Reddit and Quora come to mind. Any suggestions?

Random question example: Right now I want to know if my GoPro Hero 13 Black can be set up to take 10-second videos every minute or two and if so, how?

I’m yet to find a forum with the depth and variety of knowledge to match PPPT. ih8mud (Land Cruiser forum) is probably the closest for marque specific technical knowledge but their OT section wasn’t as good.

For questions like that, I'll normally type a question into the search bar for Google or Duck Duck Go and often will find the answer in the links provided.

I'd agree with that except.....when I ask Google for random answers, PPOT rarely comes up, if ever. Most popular returns are Quora and Reddit.

I've tried to find the answer to this question that way, without success. It is time for me to post my question on a forum. Let's try Pelican.

I asked your question on
https://gemini.google.com/

The results:

The GoPro Hero 13 Black doesn't have a built-in feature to automatically take 10-second videos every minute or two. However, you can achieve a similar effect using the TimeWarp feature with some adjustments.

Here's how you can use TimeWarp to capture short clips at intervals:

Enable TimeWarp:
In the GoPro app or on the camera itself, select the "TimeWarp" shooting mode.1

Adjust Capture Rate:
Experiment with the capture rate settings (e.g., 15x, 30x). Higher rates will result in shorter clips.
Monitor Recording:
Since TimeWarp condenses time, you'll need to monitor the recording to ensure you capture the desired moments.
Important Considerations:

Battery Life: TimeWarp can consume battery power relatively quickly.
Storage Space: Ensure you have sufficient storage space on your SD card.
Editing: You might need to edit the resulting TimeWarp video to extract the 10-second segments you want.

That sounds like more of a search engine optimization issue. I doubt Pelican pays Google to promote them in Internet search results.

Interesting. That would make Google returns less complete and comprehensive than they could be, and more a measure of revenue than content. I wonder if there is a search engine that is more complete and comprehensive. But then.....a complete and comprehensive search engine would need to scour the archives of every website for each question, which can't be feasible. Hmmm...

Thank you too. In fact, thank everyone for reading and advising.

I try not to bother people with questions. But I do think this board offers a very wide range of expertise in almost any area one can think of. A potload of pretty bright people here who know what they are talking about.

Superman 12-30-2024 09:39 AM

Okay....Timewarp is not what I am looking for. Timewarp might take a frame every 0.66 seconds, making one second of processed video equivalent to 30 seconds of footage. I want to take videos of a band performance tomorrow night.

I am looking for perhaps six 10-second videos for promotional purposes. If I had a three hundred to choose from, I could find six to create a one-minute video collage. My question is therefore difficult to put into words succinctly, which may be why I am finding no Google Search results. Perhaps I will create a thread somewhere, and here (actually....in another nearby thread), I am asking a question about where to post such a question. Don't get me wrong. I have respected appreciated PPOT deeply and for many years but I really don't think PPOT has the volume of readers that Twitter has, or Quora or Reddit.

It looks like I might just have to basically video the whole thing, and find needles in that haystack. I hope ventilation is good enough. I am finding these GoPro cameras get HOT.

Maybe Carnac?

Carnac's knowledge is legendary but he's not returning my calls.

Magic 8 ball... hands down.

I messaged the free Google ChatGTP site and got this.

So, apparently, you need to monitor the progress of each 10 second video and ensure that 10 seconds elapses and then quits recording till the next interval

You may already know this; you may have even explained it above. If you do and you have I apologize for my poor reading comprehension.

Google “cultivates” their results, which is just a fancy way of saying that businesses can pay Google to be the top response to a given search. Results are also manipulated based on social or political pressures such that certain information be suppressed or promoted depending on who’s pulling the strings. I have Duck Duck Go as my search engine, it doesn’t do any of that stuff.

Oh Gollywonkers! Of course I have not and your instructions are deeply appreciated. I will try them in the morning to see if the video-ng goes well. We will have groupies (wives) to assist.

And....we really should have another breakfast summit, even if Shaun says he is too busy for us. Perhaps we could persuade jyl to participate.

This is very interesting. The more I understand my strong preference for truth, the most I like my dog. I'll check Duck Duck Go.

Sincere thanks to everyone!
