Meta AI profiles

I pretty much hate Facebook. It's morphed from showing me what my friend are doing, to showing me ads and anything but my friends. But wait, Meta has actually found a way to make FB even worse. They're creating AI accounts! Even more stunning is Meta's surprise that everyone hates the concept.

I haven’t been on Facebook since it came out how extensively they were spying on their users and censoring certain content. Zuck the lizard person has a strange obsession with the metaverse alternate world and seems to keep pushing the content, even though consumers don’t want it.

Yup. Soon it will be computers trying to convince other computers that their thinking is correct.

The more 'looks' and the more 'likes'...the higher the advertising price becomes.
Based on false data.
(that might be called FRAUD in other venues.)

More than a few internet startups fake the numbers and employ cheap trolls to attract others. Nothing new.
Except when it's not.

I’ve often wondered if this could be the eventual downfall of social media. The people get tired of talking to computers and go back to talking in person.:)

john70t 01-05-2025 02:00 PM

Maybe that is the goal. To eliminate all other venues of interpersonal communication.

Interesting concept...
Bring down the house using dilution.
A low-trust environment.

Except when we've been taught to fear everyone around us.
Mental desert. Don't go outside. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hikikomori

What is next? I'm desperately waiting for that next life raft savior to cling to.

I like having people over for drinks. That’s way better!

I went to the toledo mall before x mas and was surprised of amount of people shopping.

I think people are starting to realize the downsides of online shopping and the time wasted when the product arrives late, incorrectly sized, or other systemic shopping problems.

I also went to a mall: 12Oaks in Novi, Mi. My first mall shopping experience in many decades.

Freeways were empty and easy drive from here.
Mall was clean and mostly empty. Decorated beautiful inside. No riff raff at all.

Road signage sux getting there... I got lost in the endless parking lots and drove around trying to find it. Also got lost leaving with heavy bags. There are two levels and I happened to be parked on the upper. Got exercise in for the day.

Found out there is a A123Battery and Go-Kart business to the north. Bought stuff from a couple places. Wandered into other decent stores. A major store only had 2 or their 4 employees show up that day. The people working were at 110% and great. Everyone waited in line and no complaints. Never thought I'd miss a 1980's mall.

[/thread tangent.]

I signed up recently to FB to get to FBMP, using a stupid name, to look for tool, parts, etc. Joined a few Porsche and BMW groups.

Seems like what I see is a load of crap feeds between joined groups and friend suggestions for people I have no idea who they are. I have no friends on FB and reject all requests.

I also joined FB just to use marketplace. I hate it but if you want to buy and sell it is pretty much the only game in town. I have bought and sold a 2 trucks and a motorcycle in the last year or so.

Good thing I'm not an entirely liquid life form.

I might get drunk.

Same here, I have an account with my name misspelled and no personal info just to use Marketplace. Honestly makes me miss the glory days of Craigslist, their UI sucks and the search function is almost useless.

I use FB to find events I'm interested in. My experience with groups is that, regardless of topic, they're filled with people lacking experience, or knowledge.
As for FB friends, I only accept requests from people I know and like in the the real world.
