Hey guys I have come across a 2004 Cayenne turbo for sale . It has 75k miles and records for the last 5 years . Via pics the interior and exterior are immaculate . Coolant tubes have been replaced with metal . New brake pads/rotors on all 4 corners .

New waterpump and thermostat and coolant . Tires a year old . Air suspension works and no dash light . Seems like a nice vehicle . It's 4 hours away and I have started a conversation with the seller . He's asking 15,995 .

Looking at online auctions that price doesn't seem crazy . For similar mileage some prices were higher and some lower . What would you consider a realistic offer or price range . It's kind of a bucket list item just for the fun of it .

That mileage and no scan issues, seems a very fair price for buyer. Good luck with it.

$75K miles is pretty low for a 2004, but that seems a bit steep to me.

I think these are great cars, but they made a lot of them and they are relatively inexpensive now. My 2004 TT is still in great shape and everything works (including air suspension). It has new tires and brakes on all four as well. Other than that, just lower control arms and the passenger window mechanism have been replaced (did it myself) ...so very reliable (other than the plastic coolant lines issue). That said, I think it would probably only bring about $5K if I were to sell it. Of course, it has over 200k miles. It still looks great but it lacks a lot of the safety features that newer cars offer.

Pretty much all have had coolant tubes replaced with metal ones as Porsche eventually paid for that (recall/settlement).

Have you seen the records (in pics) for the last 5 years? What's been done to it. What does it need now?

$16K can be reasonable for a 75K truck but the condition has to reflect the somewhat low mileage.

8 hours there and back is pretty far to drive without seeing detailed pics and info.

I have seen some of the records . To be totally honest it seems like it needs nothing currently . In addition to what I stated above valve cover gaskets have been replaced , coil packs and spark plugs replaced . Cardan shaft bearing has been done . I agree on the road trip but my BIL lives very close to the seller so I can have eyes/ears on the vehicle easily . I have always been a proponent of the base VR6 Cayenne for simplicity and reliability . A turbo may be out of my comfort zone , but this looks like a real clean example .

In our current used car market that’s a very fair price. That’s of course assuming the car is as described, good that you have someone local to put eyes on it. In all honestly it’s a challenge to find ANY nice driving vehicle with under 100k for under $10k. Since the car industry went crazy during CV there are very few nice cheap used cars.

The nice thing about a Cayenne or G Wagon is they depreciate pretty fast at first but eventually they stop depreciating, settle in on a stable value, and that seems about where this one is. Unlike a Range Rover which seem to depreciate to scrap value, unless it's a Defender. This one maybe a little high but likely not far off.

I'll be up there with a check tomorrow...;) And honestly, the lack of nannies is a plus, the only thing I'd miss is adaptive cruise.

If it ain't white ... I'll bring cash :D. Didn't want the nannies ... KISS is good ... but now I have nannies ;)

I like the blind spot warnings (in the mirrors) and back up cameras on the new cars. Also, a useful nav system would be nice...and Sirius XM since I use mine for cross country trips and towing.

I don't like adaptive cruise and keep it turned off in my newer car....so even though it has it, it is little more than a pain as I have to turn it off each time I use the cruise. I also like the heated windshield wipers in my new car.

Even though the Cayenne TT is AWD, it is really not capable as you would think on snowy/icy roads, even with the all-season tires (Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06 Plus) I run... because the tires are so wide (275/40ZR20). My other AWD/FWD cars do better except in very deep snow (where I can raise the height of the Cayenne with a push of a button to an all-terrain setting).

It is great for towing and pulling logs/stumps.

If you went to narrower dedicated snows you would see your Cayenne being superior your other vehicles in the snow. I have 265/19s with snow-approved Vredstein Quatracs on my truck and it goes through any amount of snow with confidence. In fact you can't hoon around with them they grip so well. We got some snow recently, major highways not plowed, 65 was stable and confident.

Ice is a different matter. Nothing but spikes works on ice.

They are pretty utilitarian.

You cannot really even tell that you are towing a Trailex and 911. I sometimes forget when towing across country (even over mountains).

Yes...but I don't see enough snow to justify dedicated winter wheels/tires here. I did when I lived in Colorado (lived on a corner lot and had to have a very long sidewalk shoveled clear within 24 hours of the snow ending).

i got the all seasons for snow but they are mostly for cold weather. The summer sport tires don't like anything under 30ºF and this morning it was 17.

Glad we aren't getting any of that snow!

Fortunately, we still have power. We lost it for a week last year in a similar storm...and it was brutally cold. I meant to get a generator over the summer but never had the time at home (busy year). We may regret that. At least it is not especially cold this week (for Jan).

FYI. There is a black/black 2005 Cayenne Turbo on EBay with 38,668 miles. The car is in southern California...so probably never seen salt/snow.

The starting number is $14,900.00. No bids at that price so far. Wonder what the reserve is...

Never hurts to bid! We got a great deal on my son’s C6 by throwing out a low offer that turned out to be the high bid. Dealer contacted me after the auction and I was able to get a great deal.
