NJ firefighter..., but yeah familiar with those races. Been to a few over the years.
Those guys on Long Island take it very serious. The one truck that had Redskins, is out of Bayshore Long Island They've been 1st place winners for years. Taught a class for them. Got a few pics of their rigs. Both trucks are running Big Block Chevys. From what I remember, a 427 and a 454

I was thinking the ladder monkey would need steel gonads, because he doesn't know if the lunkheads (ha ha) holding the ladder at the bottom got the aim right until he gets to the top - and if they didn't it's a long way and a fast trip to the deck!
Another one of those open-header events that I never knew existed. Heck, this is better than mud bogs and the 'sippi hole! (Apologies for calling you out as Vinnie, not Vinny and I can't seem to edit the title!!)

I didn't know this was a regional thing, I though FDs all over the country did this...
This facility is quite close to my house, some weekends in the summer FDs come from all over Long Island come and compete.. The place rocks...
