Are you a curmudgeon?

I’ve seen some interesting posts here over the last couple years.

I think some of us are turning into curmudgeons…

Is a COB (Crusty Old Bastid) a curmudgeon? If so, guilty as charged.

Getting there....

herr_oberst 02-11-2025 08:07 PM

I'm somewhere between House and Fred Sanford.

Get off my lawn.

"turning into" hasn't been needed for many years now.

At some point the BS bucket gets full.

I think maybe a little.

At Carlsbad Caverns I yelled at a woman who was about to put her hands on one of the rock formations

Saw two different dimes people had tossed in the pools. First one made me pretty mad, wife told me not to yell at the woman earlier, tells me not to curse because there are kids around. I told her those kids ought to know it could make someone angry enough to throw them in. She also thought it was strange I told the US Park Service kids cleaning the place up where the dimes were

I guess so. At the grocery store I shop at, the internet was down, so no credit cards, cash only. The clerks were using a calculator to figure the prices. I had several items and she used the calculator, figured in the sales tax, and said that is $2.95. I laughed and said the bananas alone are that much. She added them up again and could not figure it out. She finally said the prices and I added them up on a piece of paper, and she could figure the tax. I handed her a $20 and she started trying to calculate the change. Once again I had to do my arithmetic magic, and gave her the amount of change. She had a tough time counting the amount out.

Just the other day my wife was at Physical Therapy for her shoulder surgery. One of the mid 20 year old therapists asked another employee what time it was. They have a huge analog cock on the wall. The reply is can't you see that huge clock? He admitted he had no idea how to tell time.

In another 20 years they will be running the country. A bunch of dummies.

All my anger management therapists say I have curmudgeon tendencies.
I disagree. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1739371679.jpg

I don't think so. I could be wrong. But when other people act out or try to get me to over react I just do an internalized shrug of my shoulders. If someone chooses to be a Richard Cranium I allow them all of the space they need to do so.

That's not to say that I don't go home and privately have a moment. :D

LWJ 02-12-2025 06:37 AM

I will say generally no. Except there are occasions...as cited above. Stupid people should be called out.

cockerpunk 02-12-2025 06:58 AM

ironically, i consider myself to be a curmudgeon. i like simple, cheap, purpose built things. i regularly fix things that shouldnt be broken. im cheap. i dont like nice things generally, i find them a waste of time and money.
