That was a great game last night.
This format is unsustainable as teams will be unwilling to let their star players compete in a full speed full contact all star games due to injury potential. Think Mathew Tkachuck has a "lower body injury" from last nights game and Shea Theodore is down with an 'upper body injury". Too bad, it has been entertaining hockey for sure.

Crosby assisting on Team USA's winning goal was a disappointment.
USA deserved the win. unbelievable job - tying up the passing lanes. |

I wish our fans would remember that the president was elected by a slim 1.5% of the popular vote victory.
While I appreciate the hard feelings that the fans may have about the current political situation down south, booing the national anthem of another country is slamming 100% of their population. Not acceptable behavior from fans from any country. Now, back to hockey.

I can't say I'm in favor of "staged" fights or fights intended to set a "tone". That's crap.
Someone gets away with a cheap shot on your team mate then you deck him. Fouls your goalie you put him on his azzz. Circling each other with your dukes up is BS.

Apparently the booing happened at NHL and NBA games as well.

I don’t care who you are or what country you are from. If you sign a deal and break it - there’s going to be a reaction. (USMCA)
Is it classless to boo. You bet. They’ve booed Gary Bettman for years! They’re hockey fans! Canada will be in tough against the US ( if they make it to final) but as they say anything can happen! |

While I think 'booing' any national anthem is a tad petulant, we all get to enjoy seeing some of the best players in the world go at it on the ice. The Canada vs USA match will be a 'must watch'.
Cheers JB

The folks in Boston gave a few "boos' when Canada was announced before the anthem but nothing during the anthem. I wonder if the did it out of respect to Marchand or do they have more class?
Naw, I think they aren't as emo.

Likely few Americans watching this game - mostly Fins and Nucks in the barn. I bet there’s more Boos on Thursday. Hopefully I’m wrong as I’ve said I’m against it.

It will be a bummer if McAvoy doesn't represent the USA in Boston on Thursday.

Hockey has the brutality of football, team coordination of basketball, the stamina of soccer and the balance of baseball - played on a pair of metal blades on a sheet of ice. Oh by the way, the puck is a frozen solid rock hard piece of rubber flying around at up 90 miles per hour.

How badly injured are the Tkachuk brothers? Anyone know? Hope they are good to go on Thursday.

I just read that McAvoy is out for Thursday, so Quinn Hughes is taking his spot. Both Tkachuk brothers and Matthews are set to play.
It is a bummer McAvoy cannot play in front of Boston. |

The latest (out here on the wet coast) is that Hughes is not cleared, for medical reasons, to play tonight. While definitely not a bruiser or physical type of defenceman; fans in the Pacific Division know he's one helluva quarterback for the power-play. One less worry for us folks "barracking" (Baz & a few others with Aussie roots will understand that term) for Team Canada.
It should be & hopefully will be, the quintessential barnburner. Lets face it Gents, that was great hockey last Sat. (after the initial fireworks which "kinda set the tone") so it's incumbent upon the Canadian coaches to come up with a game plan to counteract Team USA's defensive scheme to to have any success in tonight's contest. Team USA completely choked off our breakouts. However my main worry tonight is; I feel the goaltending edge goes Hellebuyck & Team U.S. Our netminder is prone to letting the odd 'beer-league' calibre goal get by him. I'll be interested in "Flat's" take after the game. So ice down a few brewskis & enjoy.... Cheers Gentlemen JB
