Cool 20 min video about hummingbirds

This guy has filmed over 100 hummingbird nests in his back yard.

He's also got a cool old pup.

Great close-up pics. He must have spent a lot of time getting the right shots.

I have at least 6 of them each summer that I feed...never spotted their nests.
The Baltimore Orioles are my favorites. Last summer I watched the parents feeding the young ones grape jelly from about 6 feet away. They are not timid at all and will eat constantly.

I love watching hummingbirds. One of the things I really enjoy during the summer is sitting on my back patio near a feeder while one is at the feeder. They don't seem to mind people.

I had to saved a hummingbird once. One had flown into a garage I was building and I didn't know it. The next morning I found it on the floor too weak to fly. I went to a store and bought some hummingbird food (I didn't know much about them at the time), a small feeder and a pair of gloves (thought I shouldn't touch it with my hands for some reason) I picked it up and held it to the feeder. A little while later it flew away. I put the feeder in the front flowerbed of the home and told people I showed the home to about the hummingbird and why the feeder was there.

I found a hummingbird moth in one of my flowerbeds at home. That was weird. Never knew they existed.

My wife puts up multiple hummingbird feeders during the season . We usually get quite a lot of them . They are fun to watch . My wife makes her own juice , they seem to love it 😀

Yep, I've had feeders in the past at an old home. I could probably get some if I put up feeders at the current home. I've seen hummers a few times over the past few years since moving here.

I too love humming birds, in late summer I will have to refill my six feeders every three days or so. Had one build a nest on wrought iron right above my front door. These videos are incredible!

True story : a few years ago I was working in my man cave garage . I had both overhead doors open . My 2 post lift is red in color . Next thing I knew a hummingbird flew in and couldn't figure out how to exit even though the doors were open . It was lunch time so I went in the house and had lunch . I figured with me gone it would leave .

Came out after lunch and it was still flying around at ceiling level . I guess it was attracted to the red lift . I asked my wife to come out to the garage to see what she thought . She assessed the situation and said she would be back in a few minutes . I continued to work on whatever I was doing . She came back with a freshly filled feeder and stood in the garage and held it at arms length . Roughly 2 minutes later the hummingbird landed on the feeder !!!!!

My wife slowly backed out of the garage and once outside the bird continued eating for a few seconds and then flew off . It was one of the strangest things I have ever seen . I call my wife the hummingbird whisperer :D

Awesome! Smart lady. Hummingbirds have to eat frequently, so that guy was probably tired and hungry after you had lunch. Presumably, they all know what a hummingbird feeder looks like and was happy to find a meal.

we have at least one nest in our yard. They are beyond fascinating to watch and somewhat fearless. If I am sitting by our fountain, which has become a local wildlife stop for water, hummingbirds will come very close to to me and hover for a short time. It is just fabulous to see them up close. Sometimes we get 2 to 4 at a time.

Yeah I figured the little guy burned up a lot of energy flying around the garage , plus probably nervous energy on how to escape . If I hadn't seen with my own eyes what my wife did I would not have believed it .

We get hummers all the time in our backyard. We used to have a lot of flowers, lavender and others that they'd feed on. Some are very territorial when it comes to allowing other hummers in to feed. They'll sit on the wire above the back fence and keep a look out for intruders. Once spotted they'll take off like a missile and chase the intruder off. I've been buzzed a number of times when tending to the bird bath.
