A fun test

A friend has been practicing for a vocational aptitude test with these Criteria Cognitive Aptitude Tests (CCATs). This practice test was fun. Pretty easy, but the kicker is the 15 minute time limit. I did it on my phone without paying attention to the time and without proper reading glasses. Try it. I know a calculator and scratch pad would be useful- I think they're allowed. Other interesting tests would be welcome.

I didn't pay attention to the time, so I didn't finish, but I got all of the questions that I answered correct 40/50.

I don't know anything about the test or what was expected or what to make of the test so I ended up reading the instructions for most of the questions and then really looking at the questions closely to try to figure out if any were a "trick".

I probably should have stopped reading the instructions for the questions after I'd seen a previous iteration of the question. I kept wondering "are they going to change the instructions from the previous similar question(s) to see if we are reading the instructions?" and that added a lot to the time it took.

I went through it a second time, finished under time and got 100%, but since it was the same questions, that doesn't really say much.
Some of the questions had me scratching my head. For instance, there were a bunch like this
Look at the series below, and then determine which option would replace the question mark.

1 0 1 0 ?
A) 5
B) 0
C) 1
D) K
E) 9

I kept thinking "what's the trick? Surely it's not just an alternating series." Actually a lot of those sorts of questions "which is next" or "what completes the series" seemed so weirdly simple that I found myself looking at them thinking "what's the 'trick' in this question?"
