Sump pump battery replacement...

This one lasted 7.5 yrs. and I haven't tested it yet.... but sumpthin' has gone caddywompus... an alarm was sounding and 11" of H20 was in the sump a few days ago. First time I've ever seen a trace of water... always bone dry. Now I can manually hold the run button and it only lowers to 2.5"... ???

Here's a pic

Thanks!

Crap... I'll be back ;)

A quick search for " sump pump battery " shows AGM batteries are the norm . I am sure there is info on the current battery , get an equal to or better.

Can you pull the pump out of the pit ? Sounds like maybe the intake might be plugged . Or the float has an issue . Good luck 👍

The 2.5” might just be from the distance to the back check valve bleeding back down after the pump shuts off along with the necessary gap to the bottom of the pit so it can actually pull water without sucking against the bottom.

Oh and the float might just be set up or made to not pull the last bit out.

Ugh! I feel your sump pain. Not a pleasant job.

Just replaced my sump system about 10 weeks ago. Assumed that it was the backup battery(7 years old) but further examination revealed that the main pump had died. Luckily, it was a combo system from Ace and I was able to get a drop in replacement and avoided a bunch of plumbing rework.
Biggest issue was getting it done as the sump crock was filling with water,
due to melting snow.

Good luck.

I needed something in the basement for the water softener recharge water and washing machine water....so I bought this about 12 years back.

Worked great for 11 or so years and then quit. Instead of trying to fix it, I just bought another one and had it hooked up in an hour.

It’s impressive that it lasted 7.5 years! Hopefully, it’s just a minor issue like a stuck float switch or a simple fix. At least you caught it before things got worse.
