I can't remember the last time that I chewed gum, 10 years, maybe 15 or more. I know that a friend/colleague from the middle east once brought in some stuff that was kind of like a chewy clear tar that she said was what they chewed like gum back home. IIRC, it wasn't sweetened and flavored or remotely like any of our gums.

American gum is too sweet for the first few mins, and then has a horrible flavor after you've chewed all of the flavor and sugar out of it.

Many years ago, there was gum in Japan that after you chewed the flavor and sugar out was still soft and had a good flavor.

I'm assuming that Chiclets (sp) are named for "chicle", although probably haven't included it for decades. I remember getting them for Halloween in the 70s/80s.

I have a jar full of chiclets! It's my go to gum for making my front teeth look huge! Someday when my real teeth fall out I'll just put chiclets in so I'll have a bright white smile and minty fresh breath!

So many of them have artificial sweeteners as well. I can’t stand the taste of artificial sweeteners in any thing and will avoid them.

I do love me some bazooka gum, although the flavor only lasts for milliseconds.

yep, milliseconds, and then after that the gum base is like chewing tire rubber (flavor and toughness).

I’ve tendency to have a dry mouth, so I chew gum often. After a while, it feels like you’re chewing on a pencil eraser. Then it’s time to reload.

Folks used to say a frosty from Wendy's had plastic in it. If so, I'm full of plastic. Between that and all the gum I've chewed when I quit smoking years ago, I'm probably recyclable by now.
