BMW fenders are plastic?

Very windy this morning, blew a huge recycling bin into me going 25. Swerved but no love. Just hit 260K miles on it the other day.

Oh yeah. Eric on I Do Cars posted a video a month or so ago in which he swapped out a fender and bumper on his project 328. Worth the watch.

Best

Interesting. Well no rust problems.

A crappy way to start the day but could have been much worse.

Hmmm, I just stuck a magnet to the fender of my wife's 2017 BMW f30, apparently that one is steel.

Pretty hard hit! The fact that it's plastic probably saved your hood, and silver lining, the wheel looks like it didn't get bent.

I had no idea. Any other cars besides Saturn and Corvette using plastic body panels?

Quite a few cars use (or used) plastic body panels other than the Corvette and Saturn models. The Pontiac Fiero was one of the best known, but there are many others, including:
BMW M1
Ford RS200
early Ferrari 308's
SAAB 97 Sonett II/III
Studebaker Avanti
Volvo P1900
BMC Mini (South American 1969 models)
Lancia Stratos
the infamous (and hilarious thanks to Jeremy Clarkson) Reliant Robin

And some cars used plastic body panels only on specific performance versions with wider fenders.

In modern high-performance cars, one should remember that "carbon fiber" bodywork can be thought of as fiberglass plastic with carbon fiber substituted for the glass fibers.
