What's The Wildest April Fools Invention You Can Come Up With?

Every year, we enjoy coming up with our version of fun, wild, over-the-top product ideas for April Fool's which are inspired by our favorite vendors and parts. This year, we thought we'd take the tradition over to you! We'd love to see what your ideas are on the most outrageous, hilarious, maybe even shockingly functional ideas which take inspiration from automotive parts.

We might even pick a few favorites to feature in our April Fool's e-mail! If yours gets picked, we'll send you a $100 Pelican Parts Gift Certificate.

To inspire you, here's some of our own favorites from past years:

Schwaben Diesel Generator for Your Taycan
Love your Taycan but hate waiting for it charge? The engineers at Schwaben have solved all of your problems with their latest offering, the Rolling Coal Diesel Generator! With over 750 miles of extended range you can safely explore all across the country without having to twiddle your thumbs at charging stations or make awkward conversation with the Tesla owner next to you. Available in a variety of colors to match your Taycan (please call for PTS) and if you’re looking for even more range a dual-engine version is also available!

Element Party Poppers
Who doesn't love a good prank? Just imagine the looks on your friends faces when you swap one of these Element Party Poppers for their actual fire extinguishers- they'll really LIGHT UP when they find that their pride & joy is being doused with a full minute of festive (but environmentally responsible) confetti! Now you can celebrate their poor maintenance choices and faulty equipment from the safety of the paddock. Suitable for use on the street as well.

Schwaben Pump the Brakes Game
After much demand, the good folks at Schwaben have finally introduced the latest version of their wildly popular “Pump the Brakes!” game for kids of all ages. Now featuring a two-player mode, contestants can race to see who can get their favorite 1:24 scale model out of service and back on the road! Unlike some other black-market brake bleeder games, this features two high-quality pumps with a tactile feedback system and an easy to read 0-30 lbs pressure gauge built right into the top of the tanks. You won’t be able to tear them away it!

Rennline BBQ Grill Equipment
Rennline is proud to announce their debut into the grilling world by using the same engineering and R&D processes that sets them apart from the competition on the street and the track! Achieve faster and more accurate flips with carbon fiber and CNC machined lightweight aircraft grade billet aluminum utensils which gives you an edge over the other dads at your next BBQ cookout!

Brings to mind something from the 356 Registry -

A recently found cache of vintage factory air! Yes indeed for the ultimate correctness at the next Concours, you too can fill your tires with air carefully captured in the Porsche factory and stored until it was recently found during a remodeling.

Available vintages include ....

O'reilly has been out of stock:

as to favorite car pranks, I used to put bubble wrap packing on the kids tires. A whistle and a zip tie is always fun.

Hey UncleBilly. I know!!!

You know these large diameter tires everyone runs lately add a lot of unsprung weight.

Someone should make them with holes for lightness.

rockfan4 03-13-2025 10:28 AM

4th dimensional wheel spacers. They allow you to mount the deep dish wheels you like on 964 or 993s, without worrying about offset. Available from -10 to -200 offset.

Not 100%car related,

But I’ve been pitching viagra pop rocks for years now. The pharma companies are missing a great opportunity.

Thanks everyone for the creative suggestions so far!

Here's one more, happy Friday!

Diesel Glow-in-the-Dark Plugs:
Start DIY-ing under the cover of darkness with Bosch diesel glow-in-the-dark glow plugs! If you have to finish changing your glow plugs at night, or sneak away under the cover of darkness, these diesel glow in the dark plugs will light the way. And if you fumble and drop one, no problem! You can still see exactly where it lands.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Instant speed

VDO should advertise a speedometer that instantly increases speed by 50%. Bonus: improved gas consumption. Extra bonus: fewer speeding tickets.

For BMW drivers: Automatic turn signals! The dash sensor monitors your eye movements and a microprocessor determines when you are getting set to change lanes! Throw away that unused stalk and free up cabin space!
Also adaptable to other makes.

I used to enjoy a good april's fool. This day and age I cringe, there's so many "real" crazy news every day in the media, and people seem so gullible about completely fake news, it seems wrong to celebrate april's fool anymore ;-) it's like encouraging people with no critical thinking ;-)

Steve Dinan carbahn is selling some pretty nice blinker fluid for BMWs - might get a case.

Today is April Fool's Day! I stuck 3 of these in my assistant's office; he's been looking for the cricket all morning :)

Computational 1st order heat transfer model would be much easier these days than when that argument started. Couple hours work for an intern.

Im not 100% convinced the concept is totally worthless either honestly, have a post graduate degree in heat tranfer & Thermo. I think with a bit of optimization in design and fin density/geometry you may be able to make it work well enough to have some small effect. Maybe anyways, its probably a bad idea but not necessarily completely absurd.

I figure it can't hurt the engine...so why not leave it on?
I've never had anyone that viewed the engine ask about it....but I've told many what it's for. Also my oil temp gauge has never been more than halfway up....driving in MI prob helps.

It's much easier to get on the new filter before the filter is screwed on. Tight clearance with the air intake.

Could be used for that also....you'd want some good gloves taking it off to put on a can.
It gets very hot doing it's job.:D
