What are you flying / where did you fly today?
 

I've been staying close to my home airport practicing alot of touch and go's (cross wind, wheel, and full stall 3 points).... been working on spins too. Haven't taken it on any cross country trips yet. My experiences lately have taught me it needs adsb out before I do so..

What do you fly, how often and what have your favorite destinations been.

Not flying today but yesterday I flew off the handle at a contractors who totally screwed up an asphalt job. Does that count?

Keep up the good work. I've been a private pilot since 19 and small planes offer a freedom hard to find on the ground.

Quick story: when I was taking lessons, part of the regimen was practicing stalls.
My female instructor kept pushing me to wait until the aircraft stalled and I could clearly feel it stalling before she did.
She also refusing to use my C170 for my lessons because the tail-dagger made her uncomfortable.

I guess female pilots are just like female drivers....no real seat of the pants feel.

lol... contractors are tough, worse when you know the ins and outs of the trades.
The cap has a youge rudder, it's extremely sensitive and I have reduced touch in my left foot due to neuropathy due to a back injury... so I need more practice than most. It's a magnificent ride.. I'm selling my 72t to support it.
I had a young gal give me my mock check ride for my commercial cr... I'm guessing she's the exception, extremely sharp and had a mechanical failure while instructing... landed it perfectly on the interstate. She also extracted herself from a spin a student put her into during multi single engine out climb out practice. I'm guessing there aren't to many younger pilots in ga or the airlines like her regardless of sex.

Of course there are great female pilots now. Why not, they have some natural traits that might make them better as long a they become risk averse.
Remember this was 50 years ago when female pilots were few and far between. This one came highly recommended by a pilot that few my dad on photo shoots.

Another cute flying story involve a C210, a girlfriend and a trip to LAX. She was catching an evening flight to Denver so I told her I would fly her to LAX in my C210. An upgrade obviously from the C170. Flying in was no issue, straight in IFR approach to get me out of the pattern, but apparently they wanted to teach me a lesson for flying into a busy international airport in this little 6 seater.
Anyway, landed, taxied to the terminal, got clearance to taxi to 07L and to get there I had to cross one runway to get the other. They had me stop between runways then left me there with my engine running for over an hour. That little 40 minute round trip fight ended up costing me nearly twice as much fuel.

Thanks, my brother and I found it in Spartanburg, after flying a piel baryl the guy decided to not sell it so we went looking for another option... both airframes share the original designer, Piel. The paint is serviceable, but I'm not crazy about the scheme personally. I'll do a full recover in a few years but for now I'm going to go back to the Mexican fam scheme, as this was originally a Mexican airforce trainer purchased from Mudry in 82.

Some pics. The green one is the beryl... basically a more aerobatic version of the piel emeraud. The other is the cap10b during disassembly. Drove down there from northern Utah with a snow mobile trailer. The one piece wing fit in with 3 inches to spare on each end.;)

Unfortunately, flying nowhere now since the bird is down. Had an odd low fuel pressure situation at idle (on the ground fortunately). Further investigation revealed a leaking fuel selector. Thankfully, I have a spare. Going to be a big job replacing that thing.

I am mentoring a second pilot...first one is now a CFI at LGB building time. Second one is just in the process of selecting a flight school. We took a "discovery flight" out of SNA out to the training area near Huntington Beach, Seal Beach, Long Beach. It was a nice day for a flight! It was in a C172N.

My current hangar is too far away to be there everyday.
I decided at the beginning to keep all airplane parts and tools there, as I don't have good work space at home, and don't want to forget anything at one location while at the other.

I purchased a hangar lot at the airport closest to me, but haven't built on it yet.
A new hangar close by will be a game changer.
