Hagerty live auto auction

I've sold a few cars on BAT and am familiar with their platform but don't know much about Hagerty. I see there's no sellers fee, unlike BAT.
Anyone have any experience?

Direct exp? no... looking at it regularly as a hagerty member getting reminder emails from them occasionally...
Always looked pricey and not as visited to me... BaT, for all its issues, is likely still the best place to SELL, their big reach means that statistically there will always be a rich/impatient/unaware fool likely to overpay for something... Less likely on the other sites. Hag seems to be more American car centric in the auctions so far, probably reflecting the customer base...

I look at BAT every day. Haven't even checked out the Hagerty auction even though I'm a Hagerty member. They sent a well presented solicitation for their on line auction so I filled out some info and pics of the car I'm thinking about selling. They said they would love to represent my car then low balled me on the reserve. I did not respond. They'll probably call back to negociate but I'm not budging, we'll see what happens. I've got nothing to lose if they accept my reserve with no sellers fee

Not sure which of the 2 you're talking about that lowballed you...
BaT also lowballed me on reserve and pressured me to drop reserve entirely. I refused... that cost time. It took a very long time to get listed, their copy writing of my car's description was awful... And once the sale concluded there was zero interest from them answering procedural questions, it's like you're a discarded kleenex.

All in all, I did not like the BAT experience at all, BUT there is no denying that if you do the work answering the peanut gallery and stay on top of comments, it is the place that will net you 20% over market (IMO), most of the time, just because of its reach and odds to find "the one rich guy that wants it now" . I consider BaT a great place to learn about cars I am interested in but do not know 100%, based on the commenters contribution.

In the future I would consider Pcarmarket, cars and bids, hagerty (probably in that order) and probably leave $ on the table, or just regular non-auction sites... There is zero transaction protection or guarantee the sale will go through on these sites - which is annoying given the time you waste getting listed vs a "for sale ad" , I wish they went further being at least financial guarantor of the transaction.. But yeah, BAT is good for sellers if you are willing to dance.

PS: to this day I wonder if the guy I sold my car to is still a free man. It was just so fishy how he bought several cars of the same brand (including mine) within a short time, I was sweating a wire transfer reversal and a call from the FBI ;-)

Porsches seem to sell for considerably less on Pcar than BAT. A car I sold on BAT a few years ago went for way more than the reserve they insisted on. I wanted to set it at 45K. 30K was the max they said. Ok fine, I was confident the car would go for more so I agreed. The car went for 65K. I jokingly emailed the agent "hey Jake, good news! my car made reserve!" No reply ha ha. Used car salesmen, sheesh
