If my property gets vandalized and I catch the prep. What can I do...
that won't land me in jail? Just wondering since I own a Tesla and there are lots of crazies here in SF Bay Area. I'm hoping this thread doesn't end up in PARF.
|
Probably not much. You'd be violating the dirtbag's rights if you were to lay a hand on 'em. Wouldn't wanna get sued now, would ya?
I saw a Tesla with a sticker on it that said something like, "I bought my Tesla before Trump took office". |
Make sure the cameras are armed and let the cops handle it.
You could put an "Elon for President 2028" poster in the back window and it would probably work better than a mousetrap with a big hunk of cheese. SF is quite the echo chamber these days. |
Call the police/sheriff. Consult your family attorney as well.
Do not let someone else doing bad things throw you off your moral compass. As soon as that happens...they win. Also, make sure you're also availing yourself of whatever security measures makes sense - like cameras, alarms, etc. |

As much as we want to dish out our own justice, not only can it get you in more legal trouble than you want, you never know how crazy the perp might be and if they have a weapon. There was an incident here in MN where a guy tried to stop a scumbag who was stealing his catalytic converter and the perp shot him. |
De-badge and re-badge with Ford emblems 👍

Call the cops, and then your insurance agent and hope they total that liberal, EV junk so you get paid off.... Buy another jeep.
|
I'll trade you my 2012 Leaf for it.
You can thank me later :^) |

Super obvious but here it is anyway.
- The only thing you should do is what's best for you. - And don't even think about taking the law into your own hands. |
Be proactive! Saw this yesterday at the local farmer's market...

Read up on your rights to self defence of yourself and property.
Then get out there and exercise your rights with an iron fist. |

Chris, we've not hung out in prolly 12-14 years, but from what I recall you are not running out in the driveway to confront ANTIFA in the middle of the night F'ing with your car. Your wife will demand you call the police and stay on that pillow your 9mm is under next to her.....
|
Has it really been that long, T? Anyway, I’m just pissed that wifey doesn’t want to drive that car until this craziness blows over. Since we bought it, we haven’t driven anything else really. Now I have to gas up the truck!

Get the evidence needed and give Pam Bondi a ring...20 year federal sentence with no parole should be punishment enough. And to think, you coulda had a V-8!

Someone might burn my Leaf just because it's so ugly... but then I could use the insurance for a down on a Tesla! |

SF? Yer hosed. A free state "Hello dispatch, Im holding tresspassers/vandals here at gun point, can you send a couple deputies to pick them up please?"
|
I saw that movie. didn't go well for ed Norton. although if you are the owner of the truck in the pic certain aspects of prison life might be pleasant to you.
|
Fug it , Ill take the charges . My family , doggie or my ride. Dont mess with it .

Thank you for typing that so I don't have to. :D

I’ve seen videos. One option: You get to punch their fists with your face. :)
|
Car sits in the driveway? Lights, motion sensors, cameras.
SF; call police, give video of vandals to police, go back to bed. Even in a state like Florida I would be not so inclined to confront someone with a gun over a daily driver. In most cases the owner of the car has a lot more to lose than the dip**** that works a Starbucks or a tat shop if things go south and violence is involved. |
SF - the police won't do anything to a vandal. Call your insurance and watch them drop you.
OTOH - If you do happen to decide to give them a kicking, make sure the cameras in the Tesla are off first... |

Are lowlifes actually doing this to Teslas? |
Yeah, I am thinking you are kind of screwed in SF...but they do have a new DA who has talked about being tough on crime.
If your car is targeted by vandals, hopefully you have a good home security camera that captures hi-res color images as well as hopefully the car itself has a camera system that captures images. Turn all that over to the police - you may have to go to your local district station and file a counter report and turn over your video copies to them. Make sure you leave with the officer's name, star number and police report number, all of which you will need for your insurance company. Good luck and I hope you do not get targeted. :) Michael |
Dig a big hole in the backyard now so that you are prepared.
|
I'm no Musk fan, never have been, but to vandalize anything, deserves severe punishment. Just seeing the graffiti everywhere drives me nuts. Sorry you are having to worry about this.
|
Glad to see the PARF comments have been taken care of, that wasn't called for and annoyed me, so sorry for my earlier response.
I would be pretty upset if someone vandalized anything I own, and based on the videos I have seen of it happening it doesn't look the most muscular types doing the vandalism. However, getting arrested for causing someone bodily harm does not sound like a good time either and in SF I see that being the likely outcome. This is a tough one. |
