Multiple Sclerosis Coast the Coast bicycle ride
Hey gang, On May 10th I will be riding my bicycle in the MS 100 CtC fund raiser. My hope is to ride my bicycle 50 miles in 8 hours or less. If I can ride more I will.
My main goal is to raise as much money for MS research as I can and for that I need your help. When you go to my webpage to make a donation directly to MS: https://events.nationalmssociety.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=donordrive.participant&partic ipantID=686495 you'll see that I've set a collection goal of $1000. I would like to go as far over that as I can. No donation is too small and any amount will help. Of course I'll let you all know I do. Please help? Thank you all for your attention to this. gratefully, Flatbutt |
Thank you anonymous!

If you ride too far, you might have to change your nickname to bubblebutt.

So what is that, like half a tank of gas on the big blue trike? That works out though, so you can get home without stopping
Grand seems like a kind of a lot for beer though |
I'll send my donation when your last name is capitalized:cool:

I hit my 2nd training mark of 25 miles today. Kinda wishing I had my own masseuse. Next up 30 miles by the end of next week. |

Good luck with your training and the ride. I’ve done the MS150 ride from Houston several times as has Red-beard. When they stopped going to Austin, I quit doing it. They’ve added a second direction ride starting from Austin so I started doing the ride again last year and will do it again next week.

Can you find a training partner? Someone who's also going to do the ride and youy can share the accomplishment with?

There are several good riding clubs around me which really helps. I'm not as active with my club as I should be and really tend to only do group rides as a big ride like the MS150 is coming up. Our club's weekend rides split into around 5 groups based on speed and I'm not interested in riding with any group but the fastest or second fastest so I don't ride with them unless I'm in shape. I finally road with them last weekend and remembered how fun it is. And it's really not that hard a ride because you're drafting in the group for the majority of the ride. |
another bump...

All done and I completed the 50 miles in approx 6 hours including breaks. The wind as usual was in our faces in BOTH directions. Get this...at the last 15 miles or so I pulled up to eat and drink just to make sure I didn't bonk. I checked the bike and all was good. I really struggled those last few miles. When I got to the finish I found that my front tire was flat! Who knows how far I pushed that plow.
Thank you to those who helped me raise $1200 for research. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1747229317.jpg |
