I do it weekly, when my kids are home it is done more often. My daughter does her own so I do not have to worry about it. I am hoping my son does his own after his first year of college. His closet looks like someone lobbed a hand grenade in there and clothes exploded everywhere.

Like Fred, I try to keep my house tidy.

My wife: "you're horrible at doing laundry"
Me: "no I'm not, I like pink socks"

I've done my own since I was about 15 or thereabouts. I'm quite fussy, I do the wash then remove the laundry, rearrange it, then do another rinse cycle. Nothing left lying around the house as it constantly reminds me of something I need to do.

Did they ever get stolen?

#1. My wife did the laundry for years. I didn’t get near the laundry room. She passed away last June, so I’ve been alone doing everything. Housework, laundry, two dogs, two cars, house with two outbuildings. I’m retired so I do everything. Thought about hiring a housekeeper, but don’t want anyone in the house right now. I do laundry 2-3 times a week as my wife showed me how to do it. Separate colors, whites, what and how much detergent to use. Quite a science. You’re a busy man Fred, and being alone having to do all that stuff, well, so do the best you can. I hate dusting! Our house was always spotless when my wife was alive, so I try to keep it as clean as possible. She’ll haunt me if I don’t!

I have a clothes basket in the closet that I use to collect all used clothing. When the basket is full, I pop them in the washing machine and then the dryer. I put them in another basket, which never seems to make it to the closet shelving/hangers.

Our washer and dryer are in the garage so our laundry basket sits between them. We run 1-2 loads for 3 people, every day or two. Wife and I split the roles of loader and fold/hang, if it’s in the dryer done the first to see it does it. Been that way for 33 year. Before I was married I did wash 1x a week and everything was folded or hung before dinner.

We always do our laundry when the hampers are full or nearly so. So, maybe once or twice per week. ALWAYS fold the clothes right away and put them away. There’s no way either of us can handle clothes just laying around (I grew up with a German mother, so…)

To this day, I make sure anything I put in the laundry can go directly in the laundry without any fumbling around with sleeves and reversing t-shirts, etc...do that before. Huge time saver.

Laugh, but every woman I have ever lived with has commented that I may have issues...

This is me. But I was raised by a German mom (yes, with the German accent too).

Been doing my own laundry since I left for college. Bad habits like throw everything in together, but it has worked for 40+ years. Oh yeah, I rarely wear anything white. lol

Now, I am engaged and thinking I should build out the rec room with a washer dryer so the wife can do laundry in the house. I can do mine in the garage laundry room. Of course, the rec room will also have a dog wash and my dog. Not sure she would like that. lol

Is a major life goal that i wear what i like - hobo style. A mix of cotton, wool and sports clothes. I insist on doing the laundry myself my way. Dirty enough clothes go into a hamper and when closet drawers get low i run a load. Im very careful with the soap and water temp and how it is dried because i hate ruining the clothes that i like, and i make sure im there when washer finishes so it doesnt sit and mildew in the washer.

Big innovation a few years ago i started using dawn ultra in the washing machine - completely eliminated rashes from detergent residue.

I dont get the delay to do laundry, weekly hands on is maybe 45 minutes.

Dawn Ultra dish soap?
