We don't pay any attention to the news except for local stuff. So far in the last 100 days everything is normal.

No real changes. I worry about running out of spare parts for my out of control RC Truck hobby where you basically drive em 20% and repair 80% of the time. Most everything is made in Asia. So I stocked up, especially on lipo batteries and components that fail

If anything is killing me, it’s the increased gas and electric bill averaging almost $400 per month for my tiny house up from about $200/ month

Same here. I have a small house built in the 60s and consume a lot of electricity to satisfy my errrr "unique" air conditioning and dehumidification desires (I use 35-40 percent more juice than other, similar sized homes in my area, according to usage data from my provider), and my kilowatt hour cost has doubled in the past couple years; unfortunately my income has not! :D

I've shopped around and all of the providers (brokers really, as there is only one provider) and all of their gimmick plans suck bigly, so it is not even worth making a change.

I did give myself an early B-day present by buying a new Mojave before they had price increases. I had one prior but knew I wanted another one so bought it earlier this month while the wife was away watching the grandkids.

Hahah I have a ring front door camera so my wife sees all and the RC truck boxes are huge. Such an addicting hobby and a lot of work!!!!!

Mojave is on my list but my next is a Traxxas UDR because I love stressing myself out I guess

I bought a Lasernut in January and before even using it because it was snowy here, I stripped it bare and rebuilt it with about $1,500 in upgrade parts. First time out I broke it in less than 5 minutes. I love this thing but it’s not a basher like the Mojave

If you don’t have these already, get this set

Amazing quality tools for RC. Worth every penny, like all good tools. You’ll never strip RC hardware again…but you probably already know this

Enjoy the Mojave

Both projects were double the cost I had in my head.

Both the boiler for our hot water heating system and the Flagstone walkway we had put in the backyard were twice what I thought they would be, or at least what I thought they should be.

I haven’t changed my habits hugely, but I did just order a Wera screwdriver set that I’m going to give to a friend for her birthday this summer and thought I should just buy it now in case price goes up due to tariffs.

Based on what I'm seeing at Lowes, Menards and on a recent trip, no. Spending is still robust. If I'm not mistaken, the report out today showed that consumer spending was still pretty strong but GDP dropped mostly due to Q1 pre-purchasing.

Spend was very robust in 1Q - pre-buying to beat tariffs. And in

That’s all stale data.

I’m interested to see what we all observe in the months to come.

Personal spending? Absolutely not. Bought wifey a 2020 Macan, booked a trip to Egypt for 2026, traveling the PNW this summer. I see no reason to reel in the spending at this point. All of this tariff nonsense and market volatility will be long gone by September and I am long on the US economy.
